The Braves still won't part with Clay Buchholz in exchange for Rangers' catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, despite reeling in John Smoltz, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Our View:The club may consider moving Michael Bowden or Daniel Bard for Saltalamacchia, however.

The Red Sox don't want to, but they may be forced to move Clay Buchholz to bolster their lineup after loosing out in the Mark Teixeira sweepstakes, according to The Providence Journal. Still, he will not be moved on the cheap. “In our minds, he’s a top-of-the-rotation starter who we control [contractually] for six years,” GM Theo Epstein said. “He’s very high-priced, and we value him tremendously.”

Our View:Buchholz possesses tremendous raw stuff, though he failed miserably to show that last year in the majors (6.75 ERA, 1.76 WHIP in 76 IP). We would be shocked if he was moved, that is unless he were to bring in a prime bat to boost the offensive lineup.

The Red Sox reportedly don't want to deal Clay Buchholz for a catching prospect, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:That could kill a deal with the Rangers involving Taylor Teagarden or Jarrod Saltalamacchia, unless Texas settles for a lower-profile hurler, such as Daniel Bard.

The Providence Journal reports that the Rangers have interest in obtaining Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz. Earlier today, Texas team president Nolan Ryan said the Rangers and Red Sox had been talking trade, but Epstein's asking price was steep. he's a top-of-the-rotation starter who we control [contractually] for six years," said Epstein. "He's very high-priced, and we value him tremendously."

Our View:Simply put, the Sox need catching, which Texas has in abundance, and the Rangers need pitching. Buchholz went 2-9 with a 6.75 ERA last season.

The Boston Globe reports that the Red Sox would have to part with Clay Buchholz or Michael Bowden to acquire either Taylor Teagarden or Jarrod Saltalamacchia from the Rangers.

Our View:The Red Sox will need a catcher if Jason Varitek departs in free agency, but it remains to be seen if they will trade their top pitching prospects to the Rangers to fill the void.
