September 22, 2008 Jonathon Niese failed to make a positive impression on Monday as he was pounded for six runs on seven hits and two walks while recording just nine outs. Our View:As it currently stands, Niese is still scheduled to start on Saturday despite the fact that he owns a 7.07 ERA through three starts this season as the Mets don't want to pitch either Johan Santana or Oliver Perez on short rest. You will want to avoid using Niese for your fantasy squad. |

September 21, 2008 Jonathon Niese will make his third start of the year on Monday against the Cubs, and he hopes to do enough in the outing to be allowed to start next Saturday in what would be his final scheduled appearance, according to the Our View:Niese hasn't looked good so far with a 4.09 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and a poor 4.91 BB/9 mark over 11 innings, so he had better have a solid outing on Monday if he hopes to pick up another start this season, especially if the club is still battling for the playoffs on the seasons final weekend. |
