A decision on whether Randy Johnson will return to the Diamondbacks or baseball at all could come next week, the Boston Globe returns.

Our View:Johnson had a good year with a 3.91 ERA in 30 starts, and there should be plenty of interest in him if Arizona decides against retaining him.

Orlando Hudson, 2B

The New York Mets may take a run at signing second baseman Orlando Hudson in the offseason, according to the New York Times.

Our View:The Mets signed Luis Castillo to a four-year, $25 million contract last offseason, and he predictably struggled to live up to the deal. Realistically, it would be difficult for the team to sign Hudson without trading Castillo, but they would still have to eat a big part of his contract.

Brandon Webb, P

The Arizona Diamondbacks have ace Brandon Webb under their control for two more seasons, but are already talking contract extension with him, according to the Arizona Republic.

Our View:Webb picked up 22 victories and posted an ERA of 3.30 with a WHIP of 1.20 while striking out 183 hitters in 226.2 innings. With the starting pitching market still sparse, and high-dollar contracts going out to average hurlers, Arizona clearly wants to be ahead of the pack in retaining Webb at today's prices.
