Brian Fuentes, P Thursday 12/4, 11:14 AM CT
Buster Olney of ESPN indicates there is belief within the Rockies' organization that closer Brian Fuentes could remain in Colorado on a multi-year deal.

Our View: Fuentes was offered arbitration by the club, and they could deal Huston Street if he re-signs.
Garrett Atkins, 3B Wednesday 12/3, 11:36 PM CT
Garrett Atkins' agent told MLB.com that Atkins would be willing to listen to a fresh offer for a contract extension on Wednesday.

Our View: This comes as no shock after it was reported on Wednesday morning that it was unlikely that Atkins would be moved this winter. The Rockies have him locked up for two more years, meaning they could move him at the trade deadline this year or next winter as well.
Huston Street, P Tuesday 12/2, 1:07 PM CT
The Yankees may be interested in trading for Huston Street of the Rockies, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Street would be a strong setup man for the Yankees, but it is uncertain what the Yankees would have to give up to acquire him.
Brian Fuentes, P Monday 12/1, 7:53 PM CT
Free-agent closer Brian Fuentes was offered salary arbitration Monday by the Rockies, according to the AP.

Our View: Fuentes is one of the hottest names in the free-agent market. Now that the Rockies have offered him arbitration, if another team signs him Colorado will receive draft picks.
Ryan Spilborghs, CF Monday 12/1, 2:05 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs will likely be the Rockies' center fielder in 2009 if they trade Willy Taveras and Cory Sullivan, according to the Denver Post. The club hopes to deal both outfielders.

Our View: Spilborghs registered multiple hits in three of his last four games with the Rockies in 2008, and batted .313 over 89 outings. He could rank as a solid sleeper for 2009 as a full-time starter in center.
Brian Fuentes, P Monday 12/1, 9:02 AM CT
The Indians are focusing on acquiring a closer and have talked to the agents of Brian Fuentes, Trevor Hoffman, and Jason Isringhausen, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: Fuentes is the hottest target among the mentioned closers, but any would be a solid upgrade for Cleveland.
Brian Fuentes, P Monday 12/1, 8:08 AM CT
Brian Fuentes is slated to meet the Mets, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: The Mets feel his asking price of three years at $33 million is too high, but remain interested in him. Francisco Rodriguez, who is the prized closer of free agency, will meet with the Mets during the upcoming Winter Meetings.
