Jorge Cantu could be traded to the Giants in exchange for starting pitcher Jonathan Sanchez, according to Sports Illustrated.

Our View: Cantu was solid last year, batting .277 with 29 home runs and 95 RBI. The Giants would like to play him at third base to give them more offensive production there than Rich Aurilia did last season.

The Reds have made an offer to lefty reliever Arthur Rhodes, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The Reds are looking to replace Jeremy Affeldt, who inked with the Giants. The 39-year-old Rhodes maintained a solid 1.25 WHIP over 35.1 innings of relief with the Mariners and Marlins in 2008.
