Darren Oliver, P Thursday 12/4, 9:17 AM CT
John Perrotto of BaseballProspectus.com believes the only player seriously considering accepting an arbitration offer is Darren Oliver of the Angels.

Our View: The Reds have dropped out of the running to sign him as they don't want to part with their draft picks. Oliver is 38 years old, but won seven games for the Angels in 2008 with a solid 1.15 WHIP over 72 innings of relief.
Erick Aybar, SS Thursday 12/4, 8:29 AM CT
Erick Aybar charged the mound with a bat during a brawl on the diamond during a Winter League game Saturday, according to the LA Times.

Our View: The league and an attorney contacted by some fans are investigating whether Aybar's actions and Licey teammates Ronnie Belliard and Timo Perez hurt spectators during a brawl that began when Aybar was hit by a pitch in the top of the eighth inning of Licey's game with Gigantes in San Francisco de Macoris. Aybar could be facing discipline.
Gary Matthews Jr., LF Tuesday 12/2, 10:09 PM CT
Gary Matthews Jr. is not expected to be ready to play until at least a month into the 2009 season, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Matthews Jr. is continuing to recover from offseason knee surgery, but it's doubtful the Angels lineup will miss him much anyway after he batted just .242 last season.
Mark Teixeira, 1B Tuesday 12/2, 8:30 PM CT
Angels general manager Tony Reagins said that despite other reports, Mark Teixeira remains the club's No. 1 priority this offseason, according to MLB.com.

Our View: There are numerous teams that have interest in Teixeira, who is reportedly looking for a 10-year deal.
