Derek Lowe, P Thursday 12/4, 10:19 AM CT
Derek Lowe has reportedly received offers from at least two MLB clubs, according to the Boston Globe. One if known to be from the Phillies.

Our View: The other team was not disclosed, but it is not from the Red Sox or Yankees. The Mets are also interested in him, but remains uncertain if they made him an offer.
Joe Beimel, P Thursday 12/4, 10:15 AM CT
The Rockies are raising their pursuit of reliever Joe Beimel, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: The Rockies currently do not have a lefty slated for the 2009 bullpen, which is why they covet Beimel. The Rockies also like the fact that he only allowed one homer over the last two seasons, which would make him an asset while pitching at launching pad Coors Field.
Casey Blake, 3B Wednesday 12/3, 6:20 PM CT
Casey Blake has been offered a two-year deal by both the Twins and Dodgers, according to ESPN.

Our View: Blake might wait out the market a bit longer and see if he can get a third year out of either team.
Rafael Furcal, SS Wednesday 12/3, 6:15 PM CT
Rafael Furcal still wants four years, but with the Giants offer of three years getting spurned, they have now turned their attention to Edgar Renteria and it has been reported that they are close to a deal with him.

Our View: Furcal is the top shortstop in free agency, but the economy and slow developing free agent market may force him to take a lesser deal.
Juan Castro, SS Wednesday 12/3, 3:38 PM CT
The Los Angeles Dodgers have offered Juan Castro a minor league contract, according to the L.A. Daily News.

Our View: Castro is nothing more than a spare part and would be a backup with L.A. He hit just .193 in 161 at-bats last season with Baltimore.
Casey Blake, 3B Tuesday 12/2, 6:37 PM CT
The Dodgers and Twins are the front-runners for free agent Casey Blake, according to FOXSports.com.

Our View: Blake carries little upside in fantasy, but he's proven to be a solid contributor over the years, hitting at least 17 home runs in each of the last six seasons.
Manny Ramirez, LF Monday 12/1, 1:16 PM CT
Peter Gammons of ESPN indicates that Manny Ramirez is in better shape right now than he was when he signed with the Red Sox. Former North Carolina coach Mike Roberts said, "The work Manny did for his core and his agility completely changed him. It is amazing what he’s done for his body."

Our View: Ramirez wants a hefty new contract, and is doing a good job of helping his cause to get one with his news. Ramirez has 527 career homers and is determined to join the 600 club.
