Our View:The Yankees will likely ask for outfielder Matt Kemp as part of a potential deal. Cano is performing well while playing in a Dominican Republic league right now.

The Dodgers are gathering information on free agent lefty Andy Pettitte, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Our View:Pettitte would be reunited with skipper Joe Torre if he inked with the Dodgers. Pettitte would be a strong addition to the NL West champs' rotation, and would help ease the potential loss of Derek Lowe.

Robinson Cano, 2B

Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano, who had a miserable start to last season that sunk his batting average to an end figure of .271, is hitting .303 with seven RBI as a DH in a league in the Dominican Republic, according to Yankees.com.

Our View:Cano is a better hitter than he showed last year, and even with his horrid start he hit 14 home runs and knocked in 72 runners. He is a prime candidate to regain his old form in 2009.
