The Atlanta Braves will make a five-year offer to prized free agent pitcher A.J. Burnett, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: Atlanta is trying to rebuild their battered rotation, and with the Jake Peavy talks apparently on ice, they traded for Javier Vazquez and are now going after Burnett.

Gregg Zaun, C

The Tigers are interested in Gregg Zaun, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Our View: The Tigers need depth at catcher, and Zaun could be used as a mentor for Dusty Ryan. Offensively, Zaun would offer little to the Tigers, and fantasy owners.

Kevin Mench, LF

Kevin Mench is reportedly close to inking a one-year deal for $2 million with the Hanshin Tigers in Japan, according to the NPB Tracker.

Our View: He is expected to push Lew Ford for the starting gig in right field for Hanshin, and bat fifth or sixth in the lineup. He was designated for assignment by the Toronto Blue Jays back in late October and spent most of the season in the minors.

Gregg Zaun, C

The Blue Jays have declined to offer salary arbitration to catcher Gregg Zaun, according to the Canadian Press.

Our View: Zaun appeared in 86 games last year and hit only .237. The veteran catcher will be 38 at the beginning of next season so it will be interesting what the market will be for him.
