July 2, 2008 Boston Celtics starting center Kendrick Perkins has undergone surgery on his left shoulder, according to Our View:The Celtics said Perkins had arthroscopic surgery Wednesday at New England Baptist Hospital. Also undergoing surgery was the Celtics' second-round draft pick, Bill Walker, to repair damage to his right knee. No timetable has been set for Perkins' and Walker's offseason returns to the Celtics. |

June 28, 2008 Reports out of Boston claim Celtics center Kendrick Perkins declined an offer to scrimmage with the Olympic team this summer, supporting rumors that the rising young contributor for the defending champs will be undergoing surgery this offseason, according to the Our View:Reports from team doctors indicate the procedure would be merely for preventative measures rather than reconstructive or structural repair, but the folks in Boston have been watching this with a tinge of concern. Perkins was a strong contributor and, with PJ Brown set to retire and leave the depth chart nearly void of a backup option, the Celts may be pondering an offer to find a free agent (can you say Alonzo Morning?).
