March 22, 2008 Frontcourt swingman Josh Powell continued with his solid play on Friday night scoring 21 points, pulling down six boards, and adding two helpers. It was Powell's seventh straight start for the Clips replacing the injured Chris Kaman (sore back). Powell is undersized at the center position, but his athleticism and quickness make up for his lack of size. |

August 15, 2007 Needing frontcourt depth thanks to Elton Brand’s ruptured left Achilles, the Clippers signed forward Josh Powell on Tuesday. The AP did not report terms of the deal. Powell averaged 10.8 points and 9.8 rebounds in five games for Golden State’s summer league team in Las Vegas before becoming a free agent on July 20. Our View:Powell was a big shot at North Carolina State, but has done little since coming to the NBA two seasons ago. He will likely be a part of a frontcourt committee until Brand returns, but probably won’t get a big enough chunk of the minutes to be useful to fantasy owners. |
