The Detroit Free Press reports that Coach Michael Curry would like to play Amir Johnson more often against smaller teams, like the Knicks. "When Amir doesn't have a big body laying on him the whole game, he's pretty good," Curry said.

Our View:Against the Knicks on Wednesday, Johnson posted 12 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. If you are carrying him on your roster, be sure to insert him for games that he will be facing smaller lineups.

MLive.com reports that Joe Dumars is speaking highly of Amir Johnson and comparing him to Ben Wallace when he was with Detroit. He feels Johnson can bring rebounding, shot-blocking, and high energy to the Pistons.

Our View:Johnson should be viewed as a specialist in regards to fantasy leagues. The starting power forward does not figure to put up many points, assists, threes or shoot free throws well. Still, he does the things big men need to do on fantasy teams and could be a valuable bench round addition.

As expected, Amir Johnson has been named the Pistons' starting power forward, according to the Detroit News. Coach Michael Curry said, "Amir does things without having to have the ball. He's able to pick up baskets through his activity, by running the floor and playing off the other four guys. He does all the intangible things, and through that he's able to create offensive opportunities for himself."

Our View:Johnson ranks as a favorable late-round pick as a sleeper following his designation as a starter with Detroit. He beat out Jason Maxiell and Kwame Brown for the job.

The Detroit News states that Amir Johnson is the favorite to earn the starting job at power forward.

Our View:Antonio McDyess has already accepted his role as a backup, and Johnson is the frontrunner among Jason Maxiell and Kwame Brown.

Amir Johnson played 20 minutes in a pretty tight game against the Sonics on Tuesday, scored five points, pulled down eight boards, stole two balls and blocked two shots. The Pistons were able to give some of their younger players some extra action tonight, so vets Rasheed Wallace and Antonio McDyess could rest up for Wednesday's throwdown with the C's. Johnson doesn't see regular enough action to warrant a roster spot now, but if the Pistons clinch their playoff spot, the talented, 20-year-old Johnson could provide some decent big-man numbers during the final week or so of the season.
