Interim Grizzlies coach Tony Barone said he plans to play Rudy Gay more than former coach Mike Fratello did, according to the Commercial Appeal. "He's going to play minutes," Barone said. "If he's dying, he's going to play minutes. I told him, 'Don't look over to the bench to me because you're tired, because you're not coming out. You will die. You'll be the first player who died on the basketball court because you're tired.' He's going to play minutes and he's going to produce."

Rookie Rudy Gay scored 21 points during Saturday's exhibition game against the Pistons. It was the third consecutive preseason contest in which Gay led the Grizzlies in scoring. With Pau Gasol out the first few months of the season, Gay will have a chance to make some noise right away.
