Rajon Rondo stepped up in a big way on Tuesday, helping the Celtics to not miss suspended star Kevin Garnett quite as much. Rondo had 15 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and two steals as Boston beat New York 110-101.

Our View:Rondo primarily is an assist guy who will provide some points and rebounds as well. However, occasionally he'll light it up in games like this where he shot 7-of-11 from the field.

Our View:Rondo hasn't been scoring much for the Celtics, but he has been consistent in the assists department.

Our View:Rondo needs to accumulate assists in order to warrant a roster spot. Tonight, he proved his worth, but expect him to be a ghost in the box score on some nights.

Our View:The 22-year-old point guard averaged 10.2 points, 4.1 boards, and 6.6 assists per game in the playoffs as the Celtics won their first NBA title since 1986. He is averaging 14 points and six assists over one game played so far this season.

Rajon Rondo's confidence is at an all-time high. According to the Providence Journal, Rondo’s goal this season is “to be the best point guard in the league, become a better leader for this team and get another ring. I’m more confident now, and I know what it takes to win.”

Our View:Rondo averaged 10.6 points, 5.1 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.7 steals during the regular season last year and eventually won his first NBA championship. On opening night, he shot 4-for-5 and finished with 14 points, six assists, five rebounds, and three steals.

Rajon Rondo (ankle sprain) was at the Celtics practice on Friday and he was able to participate at full speed, according to the Boston Globe. As a result, he should be in the starting lineup for the club next Tuesday.

Our View:Rondo missed the last two preseason games because of the injury but figures to be ready to lead the champs into 2008.

The AP reports that point guard Rajon Rondo sat out Sunday's game after injuring his right ankle in Friday night’s game against the New York Knicks. Coach Doc Rivers said Rondo was fine but sitting out as a precaution.

Our View:Rondo should play more than the 29.9 minutes per game that he managed last season. Look for his production to increase and know that he is an excellent source of steals.

Our View:Rondo had seven points and three assists before leaving the game. The injury isn't believed to be serious, but we'll await a further report before making that claim a definitive pronouncement.

The Celtics hold a $2.09 million option for the 2009-10 campaign on guard Rajon Rondo, and they will exercise it before the start of this season, the Boston Globe notes.

Our View:This isn't surprising. The Celtics will likely look to sign Rondo to a long-term deal next summer. He made big strides in 2007-08 and could be a major building block once the post-Big Three era begins.

Coach Doc Rivers has pinpointed Rajon Rondo's problems, according to the Boston Globe. Rondo played just 14 minutes in Sunday's Game 5 loss, while going 1-for-7 from the field and finishing with three points, three assists, and two rebounds. Rivers said, "He's just not playing well right now. The Lakers are doing a nice job to start games with Kobe Bryant guarding him and roaming, and the ball is ending up in his hands. Rondo has got to look to make more plays and take more shots."

Our View:Rivers hasn't lost confidence in Rondo, however. He noted that he simply just needs to play better.

As Game 5, a possible finale for the '07-'08 NBA season, draws near on Sunday, the Celtics have given reporters indication that guards Kendrick Perkins and Rajon Rondo will be greatly hampered by injury, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Coach Doc Rivers proclaimed Perkins, nursing a strained left shoulder, has a 50-50 chance to play while Rondo is likely to make the game but has struggled to perform with a bruised bone in his left ankle.

Our View:Rondo wasn't as aggressive as he typically is and his speed was compromised due to the injury. The team lists their point guard as day-to-day.

Rajon Rondo is hindered by a left ankle bone bruise, but wants to play in Thursday's Game 4 against the Lakers, according to the Boston Herald. Coach Doc Rivers said, "He’s sore and swollen, so he’s out of practice. So we have to wait until today to see what we are going to do."

Our View:Rivers also explained that Rondo's speed would be compromised. He mentioned that Tony Allen could potentially start, due to his ability to cover Kobe Bryant. Other candidates to start would be Sam Cassell and Eddie House, if Rondo is ultimately scratched.

Our View:Rondo limped off the court last night in the third quarter, hampered by an obvious ankle injury. He later returned and appeared to be fine, but the team reports he has soreness and will be taking it easy in practices to save full effort for games that matter.

Our View:Rondo added 12 points in the win. Game 6 is in Cleveland on Friday night, with the deciding game in Boston on Sunday - if necessary.

Our View:Certainly the big-3 in Boston will be counted on throughout the Celtics playoff run, but given they way Rondo played in Game 1 the Celtics appear even deeper than they did a few days ago.

Who needs the Big Three? Rajon Rondo led the Celtics with 23 points, five assists, and 10 boards against the Knicks on Monday night. The Celtics rested all three of their superstars.

Our View:Rondo has been able to step into the spotlight when one or more of the Big Three have rested this year. The point guard is forced into the background on most nights, though.

In an odd turn of events, amidst a floor bloated with potential Hall of Fame inductees, SG Rajon Rondo led the Boston Celtics as the offensive force in an 86-102 win. Rondo shot 8-of-12 from the floor without laying victim to a single foul, scoring 26 points 2ith 10 rebounds.

Our View:Rondo has enjoyed dramatic progress this season, tonight leading a Boston team that saw seven different players score in double figures this evening. If he's hitting his stride, the Celtics are virtually unstoppable.

Rajon Rondo is listed as day-to-day with an upset stomach, according to the Boston Globe. Rondo thinks he caught food poisoning from eating a hamburger at the team hotel early yesterday morning, and he stated, "I'm just weak, nauseous. Actually, right before the game I started feeling weak. My stomach has been bothering me." Hopefully he can make a quick recovery.

With KG out of action recently, Rondo has been asked to take on more of a load on offense, and he's responded well. Ride him while he's hot.

The back injury Rajon Rondo sustained Friday kept him from lacing up for Saturday's game. He's slated to be examined further Sunday and may have an MRI taken, according to the Boston Globe. "Monday's probably doubtful," said coach Doc Rivers. "But we'll see. He's young and he heals faster than all of us." The C's have a rematch of Saturday's loss to the Wiz on Monday. We should have a better idea of his status for that game after he's looked over on Sunday.

Rajon Rondo was unable to finish Friday night's game after injuring his back during a fall in he second quarter. He's not sure if he'll be able to lace up for Saturday's run with the Wiz, according to the Boston Globe. If Rondo isn't able to play, look for Tony Allen to replace him in the starting lineup.
