While the NBA was a bit shocked to hear LeBron James would consider playing international ball if the price was right, Laker superstar Kobe Bryant has echoed the sentiment, reportedly interested in returning to Italy (where he spent much of his youth) to play ball, if the price was right, according to the Boston Globe. Asked about LeBron's comments and if he would consider a move to international competition, Bryant commented, "I'd go. I'd probably go. Like Milan or something like that, where I grew up or something like that. Do you know any reasonable person that would turn down 50 (million dollars)?"

Our View:The talk always centers around money, but the exchange rate for the slumping American dollar is what makes this a hot topic. Add that international leagues are not confined by salary caps and are supported by corporate dollars rather than an individual owner and it is easy to see one of these teams coming up with the dough to make such an offer. LeBron is a free agent in two years, and while NBA teams are gearing up to make that run to hire him, it would not shock to see an international squad do the same. Kobe is a free agent next summer, thus the experiment could become a reality sooner than we realize. Stay tuned.
