December 10, 2006
Kobe Bryant may sit out another game tonight, according to the LA Times. He skipped practice yesterday to rest his sprained right ankle and said that if it didn't improve, he would "probably not" play against the Spurs.
December 9, 2006
The Lakers decided about 20 minutes before tipoff Friday night that Kobe Bryant wouldn't play because of a sprained right ankle, but did not make a formal announcement, according to the AP. "It'll be day-to-day," Bryant said after the game. "The key is just making sure the pain is gone. The last game I tried to compensate for it, but it just got worse to the point where I couldn't run without limping.

Kobe Bryant said he felt little pain in his sprained ankle on Tuesday, according to the LA Times. "I thought I was going to be out for two-and-a-half, three weeks," Bryant said. "It popped and everything. It looked pretty nasty. I'm happy that I'm able to walk today." It appears unlikely that he will suit up tonight, though he hasn't been ruled out. Maurice Evans would start if Bryant is out.

Kobe Bryant was solid in his season debut Friday night, hitting 8-of-15 shots from the field while scoring 23 points, grabbing four rebounds and handing out six assists. Bryant, who also turned the ball over six times, missed the first two games this season while recovering from offseason knee surgery.

The LA Daily News reports that Kobe Bryant will be a game-time decision on Friday against Seattle. Bryant had another round of treatment on his right knee Wednesday at the Lakers' practice facility.
October 31, 2006
The Lakers decided to hold out Kobe Bryant for Tuesday's opener with Phoenix and he's not going to play Wednesday either, according to the AP. "This morning it was a little sore," Bryant said Tuesday. "The thing about the knee is you want to string together a few days where it feels good." Bryant underwent arthroscopic surgery in mid-July, and missed the Lakers' eight exhibition games. Bryant hopes to return either Friday night against Seattle at home or Sunday night at Seattle.
October 31, 2006
Kobe Bryant is expected to be in the starting lineup tonight against the Suns, according to the LA Daily News. "I felt really, really good (Monday)," Bryant said. "Really, really good." Bryant is recovering from right knee surgery.
October 30, 2006
Kobe Bryant said yesterday's scrimmage was his best since undergoing right knee surgery during the offseason, and he told coach Phil Jackson he'd be ready to start their season opener on Tuesday, according to the LA Times. However, when asked how much he trusts his knee, Bryant replied, "not much. . . It's difficult turning the corner, being able to trust it, to be able to pivot and explode off it. . . It's still a little sore." When healthy, he's a top three fantasy player, but this isn't the way you want your top pick beginning the season -- especially with his history of missing chunks of the season with injuries.
October 28, 2006
The Lakers practiced Saturday at Staples Center and Kobe Bryant participated in much of the session, according to the AP. Bryant has been recovering from right knee surgery and didn't play in any of the Lakers' exhibition games. "He says he's going to play on Tuesday," head coach Phil Jackson said. "There's a disclaimer that he's doubtful. I'm sure that he'll make the correct decision. He came off the floor and he was sore, but he was on the court for a good hour and a half before he came off."
October 25, 2006
It remains uncertain whether Kobe Bryant will be ready to play on opening night, according to the LA Daily News. Bryant underwent knee surgery during the offseason and still is recovering and rehabbing. "I don't want to push this," coach Phil Jackson said. "I think it's very important for him. He's stalled out a little bit on his rehab and on coming back. I really want him to be healthy when he comes back, because a lot is asked of him and he plays heavy minutes. If things don't go right, it could be a setback. I don't want to have that happen." Kobe has trouble staying healthy, which is concerning, but he should remain a top five pick in most leagues, regardless.
October 19, 2006
Kobe Bryant, who is recovering from knee surgery, won't play tonight or Friday, and it's possible he won't play until the regular season opener, according to the LA Times. "Whenever you have an injury, a knee injury or ankle, whatever it is, it's always a little ginger and tentative to kind of put some weight on it," Bryant said. "I'm just kind of working through that a little bit. I don't see myself playing either one of those games." The Lakers are hoping he'll be able to play in at least one exhibition game.
October 14, 2006
Kobe Bryant took part in his first controlled scrimmage yesterday since undergoing knee surgery in July, according to the LA Times. It looks like he should be fine for the start of the season and a top five pick in nearly all leagues.

July 15, 2006
Kobe Bryant had minor surgery on his right knee Saturday and is highly unlikely to play for the United States in the world championships this summer, according to the AP. USA Basketball said Bryant will still attend part of the camp and will travel with the team in Asia for training in exhibitions in China and South Korea, and the world championships in Japan. But full recovery from the procedure normally takes eight to 12 weeks, leaving it doubtful Bryant will be available for any of the world championships, which run from Aug. 19-Sept. 3.
