LeBron James, F Wednesday 7/23, 8:19 PM CT
As the basketball world turns to the Olympics, we have learned the recent ankle injury suffered by LeBron James will keep the top NBA player out of action as the USA squad faces Canada in exhibition action, according to SLAM Sports.

Our View: It is a precautionary measure and the ankle injury is considered a mild sprain, nothing that should keep him out of action that matters. Until he's at full health, the team will play the cautionary role and keep him out of game action.
LeBron James, F Tuesday 7/22, 7:16 PM CT
ESPN.com reports that LeBron James left Tuesday's Olympic team practice with a mild ankle sprain after landing awkwardly on Kevin Durant's foot.

Our View: "He thinks it's a mild sprain," coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "Our trainers think it's a mild sprain. So we'll find out tomorrow. But I don't think it's anything serious. Obviously, we'll look and see what happens tomorrow."
Delonte West, G Saturday 7/19, 2:33 PM CT
The Chronicle-Telegram reports that Delonte West and the Cavaliers are in negotiations to keep West in Cleveland. West is a restricted free agent.

Our View: West was significantly better last season once he landed with the Cavaliers. Expect his numbers to go up with more familiarity of his running mates. He is a capable backup point guard in deep fantasy leagues.
Daniel Gibson, G Wednesday 7/16, 9:59 AM CT
Daniel Gibson has agreed to a five-year contract with the Cavs, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

Our View: Gibson was on his way to a semi-breakout before missing 17 games with a sprained left ankle. He also missed the final two games of the Eastern Conference Finals with a separated shoulder.
JJ Hickson, PF Tuesday 7/15, 10:50 AM CT
JJ Hickson had 26 points and nine rebounds in Monday's Summer League loss to the Knicks, and the Cavaliers have been presently surprised by the rookie's skills. He was the 18th pick in the draft. "To the credit of our scouts and (general manager) Danny Ferry, they already knew what they wanted. They targeted him right from the get-go and you saw some of the things that make him special today," assistant John Kuester tells the Charlotte Observer. Kuester adds that Hickson needs to work on his conditioning and defense.

Our View: Scouts didn't doubt Hickson's skills, but many people thought he should have returned to N.C. State for another year. He is a big-bodied power forward with an array of offense skills on the block. Ben Wallace and Anderson Varejao stand in the way of playing time with the Cavs, but we could envision Hickson spending a year refining his game and then stepping up in 2009-10.
JJ Hickson, PF Thursday 7/10, 4:07 PM CT
PA Sports Ticker reports that the Cleveland Cavaliers have signed JJ Hickson. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Hickson will make over $1 million in his first season and nearly $3.5 million over three years due to the rookie pay scale negotiated in the collective bargaining agreement.

Our View: The 6-9, 242-pound forward out of North Carolina State led all ACC freshmen in scoring last year. He should be a great addition for the Cavaliers.
