Monta Ellis, G Sunday 10/12, 11:33 PM CT
48minutes.net reports that Monta Ellis will eventually have to undergo a second surgery to remove the screws that are currently holding his ligament in place.

Our View: Obviously, the second procedure would require recovery time in addition to the original three months and it is possible that it may be March, April or next season before we see Monta on the court again.
DeMarcus Nelson, G Sunday 10/12, 6:47 PM CT
DeMarcus Nelson started at point guard for the Warriors in their 122-102 triumph over the Oklahoma City Thunder. He shot 8-for-10 from the field, good for 18 points. He added seven assists, four steals and four rebounds in his 33 minutes of action.

Our View: Both Marcus Williams and C.J. Watson played in the game but quite a bit less than Nelson. With his impressive performance, Nelson has made it a three-man race for starting point guard duties until Monta Ellis returns.
Al Harrington, F Sunday 10/12, 6:42 PM CT
Al Harrington continued a nice preseason on Saturday night as the Warriors defeated the Thunder 122-102 on Saturday. Golden State's starting power forward had 16 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals in the victory.

Our View: Harrington is poised for a rebound season in 2008-09. He will no longer be expected to play center and should see more than the 27 minutes per game he played last season.
Marco Belinelli, G Sunday 10/12, 12:24 AM CT
Guard Marco Belinelli led the Warriors with 22 points in Saturday's preseason win over the Thunder. He shot 8-of-13 from the floor, including 3-of-6 beyond the arc. Belinelli added six assists, three boards, and two steals. He played over 45 minutes.

Our View: Belinelli is a very good shooter, but he is likely to be up and down throughout the upcoming season. He should improve noticeably on his 2007-08 stats, but he probably won't help too much in fantasy leagues.
Monta Ellis, G Saturday 10/11, 3:57 PM CT
The Golden State Warriors have suspended Monta Ellis 30 games without pay for lying about how he injured his ankle, according to the AP.

Our View: The suspension may not really hurt the Warriors that much, because they are counting preseason games - including the four they have already played - and he likely would not be able to play until December anyway. He'll be eligible to return December 17.
Justin Williams, C Friday 10/10, 8:12 AM CT
The Golden State Warriors released center Justin Williams and forward Dion Dowell, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View: Williams was signed as a free agent over the summer. The team must pare down it's roster to 15 players, and this move leaves them with 17.
Kelenna Azubuike, G Wednesday 10/8, 11:50 PM CT
Kelenna Azubuike came off the bench in the Warriors win over Portland and he scored 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting.

Our View: Azubuike will continue to come off the bench for the Warriors but will be a key contributor.
Richard Hendrix, F Wednesday 10/8, 8:36 AM CT
Richard Hendrix is on the bubble to make the Warriors' roster, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: He has a fully guaranteed contract, but has been unable to nail down a spot while hindered by a thigh ailment.
Ronny Turiaf, F Tuesday 10/7, 6:30 PM CT
Ronny Turiaf had an impressive debut with his new team on Sunday when he tallied seven assists to go with seven rebounds, six points and a block in the Warriors' loss to New Orleans.

Our View: You certainly do not think of assists when you think of Turiaf, but in Don Nelson's run and gun offense, he just might be able to have an impact in the assist column this season. Still, to expect four assists a night out of the free agent signee might be a little too much.
Andris Biedrins, C Tuesday 10/7, 6:24 PM CT
Andris Biedrins was solid in his preseason debut for the Warriors on Sunday night. He was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and collected eight rebounds and nine points in just 19 minutes.

Our View: This is exactly what the big fella will do for you this season. He should be a lock for a double-double and shoot over 60 percent again this season. If he could increase his 1.2 blocks per game rate, he would have very good calue as a No. 2 center.
Marco Belinelli, G Tuesday 10/7, 8:56 AM CT
Warriors guard Marco Belinelli is a streaky shooter, as evidenced by him missing three shots before going on to hit five of his next eight on Sunday, and the team would like him to be more consistent, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. "His body is in shape. He doesn't get fatigued. I play him almost every minute of every practice. It's just that he still makes too many mistakes," Warriors coach Don Nelson said.

Our View: Belinelli, the former 18th overall pick in the draft, averaged just 2.9 points per game last season in 7.3 minutes per game. His fantasy value is very low unless he suddenly starts seeing more minutes.
Ronny Turiaf, F Tuesday 10/7, 8:52 AM CT
The Golden State Warriors will not play Ronny Turiaf and Andris Biedrins together, and instead will have them split time, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View: Turiaf was signed away from the Lakers to a big-money contract, and is expected to provide energy to the team, though that doesn't help fantasy owners any.
Corey Maggette, G Sunday 10/5, 9:17 PM CT
Corey Maggette, in his first game in a Warriors uniform, went 5-for-9 from the field and 3-for-4 from the line on his way to 13 points and five rebounds in 28 minutes of action on Sunday night.

Our View: Maggette will have to handle the bulk of the scoring load in the early going for the Warriors with Monta Ellis on the bench. While his scoring total may dip a bit once the club is fully healthy, he appears to be a good bet to score 20 points a game, something he has done in three of the past five seasons.
Marco Belinelli, G Sunday 10/5, 9:11 PM CT
Marco Belinelli scored a team-high 14 points in 23 minutes off the bench for Don Nelson's Warriors on Sunday night. He hit two three pointers in the effort and turned the ball over only one time.

Our View: It remains to be seen just what role Belinelli will fill this year for the Warriors, but he will likely see a fair amount of action in the preseason as the team determines how many minutes they will want to allocat to Marco once the season begins.
C.J. Watson, G Sunday 10/5, 5:45 PM CT
C.J. Watson will start at point guard for the Warriors in their first preseason game due to the injuries to Monta Ellis and Marcus Williams, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View: Stephen Jackson, Corey Maggette, All Harrington and Andris Biedrins will also start. Once Williams' ankle is healthy, he should be the one running the Warriors offense with Watson serving as his backup until Ellis recovers from his own ankle injury.
DeMarcus Nelson, G Sunday 10/5, 5:42 PM CT
DeMarcus Nelson has shown a ton of skills on defense but with his offensive game lagging behind he is a long shot to make the Warriors roster, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View: Nelson had a fine career at Duke, but at just 6'2" the rookie point guard will need to work on his offensive game to make it in the NBA, especially with an offensive minded club like at Golden State.
Richard Hendrix, F Sunday 10/5, 2:40 PM CT
The Contra Costa Times reports Richard Hendrix will miss Sunday night's game with a right thigh injury.

Our View: There is no word on when Hendrix will return.
Stephen Jackson, G Friday 10/3, 8:05 AM CT
Golden State forward Stephen Jackson may see time at point guard while Monta Ellis is out, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. "He'll have to play a little differently than a normal point guard, but I think he can do it," Warriors coach Don Nelson said.

Our View: The Lakers are undergoing a similar move with Lamar Odom. Jackson averaged 4.1 assists per game last season, and this move would likely increase those numbers. He is not a great rebounder for a forward anyway, and pulled down 4.4 last per contest last season.
Al Harrington, F Thursday 10/2, 9:37 AM CT
Al Harrington is looking forward to this season in Golden State, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Last year, he spent a good chunk of minutes at center when Andris Biedrins was on the bench. The acquisition of Ronny Turiaf means he will be able to focus on power forward this season. "I'm much quicker, and I redefined a lot of my game, my post-ups," Harrington said. He said summer talks with vice president Chris Mullin have renewed his optimism for being an effective and key player for the Warriors this season.

Our View: Expect more production from Harrington this year. He worked hard in the offseason and Coach Don Nelson noticed. "I just want him to be in great shape and he is," Nelson said. "His value to the team is more important this year than ever, so we need him to have his best year." He's good for 150 threes and should see his scoring and rebounding increase with his minutes this season. Harrington is a sound No. 3 forward this season.
Marcus Williams, G Wednesday 10/1, 9:22 PM CT
The AP reports that coach Don Nelson said of the starting point guard position, "(With Monta Ellis injured) It’s C.J. (Watson)’s job now to lose.” Marcus Williams and Dan Dickau are the other point guards in camp.

Our View: This is a bit of a toss up and worth keeping an eye on during the preseason. Whoever wins the battle will hold value as any floor general in Nellie's offense always does. However, Ellis should be back in January.
C.J. Watson, G Wednesday 10/1, 9:17 PM CT
C.J. Watson is the leading candidate to start at point guard while Monta Ellis is recovering from an ankle sprain according to Yahoo!. "It’s C.J.’s job now to lose,” coach Don Nelson said.

Our View: Marcus Williams and Dan Dickau will also battle for the spot. Although the trio was mostly irrelevant in fantasy leagues last season, the winner of this position battle will have value this season. Don Nelson point guards always do. Keep in mind though, Ellis figures to be back in January.
Dan Dickau, G Wednesday 10/1, 7:32 PM CT
The Golden State Warriors signed point guard Dan Dickau on Wednesday as they try to fill the void left by injured starter Monta Ellis according to the AP. He joins Marcus Williams and C.J. Watson in the battle to start at point guard until Ellis returns.

Our View: His best season was the 2004-05 campaign, which he spent primarily with the New Orleans Hornets after an early season trade from the Dallas Mavericks. He started 46 of 71 games, averaging a career-high 12.5 points and 4.9 assists per contest. If he were to win the job, those numbers are about what we can expect.
