Grizzlies sign Iranian C Haddadi
Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - The Memphis Grizzlies have signed free-agent center Hamed Haddadi, who recently played for the Iranian national team in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Haddadi, 23, was the only player in the Olympic games to average a double- double, posting 16.6 points and 11.2 rebounds to go along with 2.6 blocks over five games. His best performance came against Argentina, when he poured in 21 points and grabbed 16 rebounds.

Hamed Haddadi, an Iranian born center who led all Olympians in rebounding in China, has sided a deal to join the Grizzlies, according to Commercial Appeal.

Our View:Haddadi averaged 16.1 points, 11.2 boards and 2.6 blocks at the Games showcasing the all-around game that could be successful at the NBA level if he can garner enough minutes with the handful of other options the Grizzlies have at the position.

Darrell Arthur, F

Darrell Arthur, the former University of Kansas standout and first-round pick of the Grizzlies, had an investigation into his high school grades closed, according to ESPN.com. His grades were ruled legitimate, but were looked into when a teacher said they were altered in high school.

Our View:Arthur dropped like a rock due to a mysterious kidney illness that frightened teams. He still has loads of talent and could see regular playing time in Memphis.

O.J. Mayo, G

Grizzlies rookie OJ Mayo took on Lakers guard Kobe Bryant in a game of one-on-one last week in Las Vegas, and Bryant came away impressed, according to the L.A. Times. "I think he has a great overall game that a lot of young players don't have in terms of skills. He can handle, he can shoot, he can pass, he's fast, he's quick, so that's the whole package," said Bryant.

Our View:That's a nice compliment from one of the game's best players. Mayo will undoubtedly score enough to please fantasy owners, though we'll have to wait and see how much he offers in other areas.
