Chalmers, Arthur reportedly caught with marijuana
Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - Former Kansas players Mario Chalmers and Darrell Arthur were reportedly dismissed from the NBA's rookie transition program.

The Memphis Commercial Appeal reported league officials discovered evidence of marijuana use in the New York-area hotel room of Arthur and Chalmers, who were members of Kansas' NCAA championship team last season.

The two will reportedly be fined at least $20,000 and suspensions could also be on the table. They will also likely have to repeat the mandatory four-day seminar, which addresses a variety of issues ... More...

Newsbreakers
Rudy Gay, GFriday 10/10, 9:47 PM CT
Rudy Gay led the Grizzlies with 17 points in Friday's 91-79 win over the Bobcats, to go along with four boards, two assists, and one steal. He played a little over 27 minutes.

Our View:Gay has made strides in each of his first two seasons in the NBA, and could be headed for a breakout campaign in 2008. He is off to a solid start in the preseason.
Darrell Arthur, FThursday 10/9, 9:45 PM CT
ESPN.com reports that an investigation into alleged improper grade changes for former star basketball player Darrell Arthur has been re-opened. If the district finds Arthur did not have sufficient credits to graduate from high school, Kansas could have to forfeit any or all games involving him.

Our View:Obviously, this will have no bearing on Arthur's fantasy value, which is negligible.
O.J. Mayo, GWednesday 10/8, 10:26 PM CT
O.J. Mayo shot 3-for-11 including 0-for-4 from three in the Grizzlies 80-89 loss to the Wizards on Wednesday. He finished with seven points in 31 minutes.

Our View:The night before, Mayo had 14 points in 30 minutes. The good news is that he's starting and has the green light. He will be asked to do as much for his team as any other rookie.
