Udonis Haslem, F Saturday 10/11, 12:49 PM CT
Udonis Haslem practiced on Saturday, despite battling a sprained foot, according to the Miami Herald. He is also going to play center for the the team with the injury to Jamal Magloire.

Our View: Haslem will be an option for fantasy owners should he become eligible at center. However, the team wants to see how he performs at the position before committing to the move.
Jamaal Magloire, C Saturday 10/11, 10:45 AM CT
Jamaal Magloire is expected to be out at least 6-8 weeks, but if he undergoes surgery on his wrist, he could miss most of the season, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: For now, the team will go with Udonis Haslem at center, and divide the rest of the minutes between Mark Blount, Joel Anthony and David Padgett. Magloire will have an MRI on his broken left hand to determine how long he will be out.
Jamaal Magloire, C Thursday 10/9, 7:20 PM CT
The AP reports that center Jamaal Magloire suffered a fracture in his left hand during the Miami Heat’s 100-98 overtime preseason loss against the New Jersey Nets on Thursday.

Our View: Magloire signed with Miami as a free agent on September 2, his seventh different team during his nine-year career. His absence looks to boost Joel Anthony's chances of making the roster and having a backup role in the Heat's frontcourt.
Michael Beasley, F Thursday 10/9, 6:11 PM CT
Michael Beasley had the green light in Thursday's loss to the Nets. He shot 8-for-18 and finished with 21 points in 28 minutes off of the bench. He also had seven rebounds, five on the offensive end.

Our View: Beasley could make a run at 20 points per game as Kevin Durant did last season. Unlike Durant though, there are certainly other offensive options on Beasley's team. He should be able to play his way into the starting lineup in time.
Marcus Banks, G Thursday 10/9, 5:16 PM CT
Marcus Banks started and played 35 minutes as the Heat fell by two in overtime to the New Jersey Nets. He had nine points, seven assists, six rebounds and six turnovers.

Our View: Banks was much bigger than he has been in past seasons. He appears to have the inside track on the starting point guard position in Miami but will be challenged by Chris Quinn, Mario Chalmers and eventually by Shaun Livingston. None of the four have good fantasy value.
Shawn Marion, F Thursday 10/9, 4:37 PM CT
Shawn Marion contributed 10 points and nine rebounds in Thursday's overtime loss to the Nets. The game was played in Paris, France.

Our View: Marion failed to get his standard steal, block, and three and had just one offensive rebound. Of course, it's merely preseason, but it seems likely that his elite fantasy production will fall off some without Steve Nash and Mike D'Antoni.
Dwyane Wade, G Thursday 10/9, 4:33 PM CT
Dwyane Wade scored 21 points in 26 minutes in Thursday's preseason overtime loss to the New Jersey Nets that was played in Paris, France. He also hit two threes, had five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Our View: He showed a lot of bounce in his step and looked much the way he did in the Olympics - very good. It's great to see him looking to test his three-point range this season. Not only will it save his body from contact but will add a new element to his fantasy value.
Chris Quinn, G Tuesday 10/7, 2:19 PM CT
Heat guard Chris Quinn sprained his ankle on Sunday and missed the team's practice on Tuesday, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: Quinn will battle for the starting point guard job with Mario Chalmers, Shaun Livingston and Marcus Banks.
Dwyane Wade, G Sunday 10/5, 8:56 PM CT
Dwyane Wade scored 11 points on just 3-for-9 shooting, while dishing out seven assists for the Heat on Sunday night.

Our View: Wade played a tidy 22 minutes in the outing and also tossed in three steals. He remains a top-10 selection in all formats heading into the 2008 season, just hope he can stay healthy long enough to justify the selection.
Michael Beasley, F Sunday 10/5, 8:53 PM CT
Michael Beasley scored 16 points, including 13 in the third quarter, in his NBA preseason debut for the Heat. He also added six boards in just 21 minutes of action.

Our View: The second overall selection in the Entry Draft, Beasley could potentially be a double-double performer in his rookie season as he will possibly fill the role of the teams third option on offense behind Dwayne Wade and Shawn Marion.
Dwyane Wade, G Sunday 10/5, 6:04 PM CT
Dwyane Wade and the Hear will look to incorporate other options into the offense for a more balanced attack, according to The Sun Sentinel. "One thing I've been trying to do is passing the ball around, giving the guys confidence."

Our View: You guys in Florida can't fool us. When the game is tight late in the 4th quarter we all know it will be Wade busting down the lane. Don't downgrade Wade at all based on this news, he will still have the ball in his hands almost every possession.
Shaun Livingston, G Saturday 10/4, 4:11 PM CT
Shaun Livingston inked a two-year deal with the Heat, according to the Houston Chronicle. Financial details were not not disclosed.

Our View: He is hoping to make a successful comeback from a serious knee injury he sustained 19 months ago. It remains unclear when he will be ready for game action.
Matt Walsh, G Saturday 10/4, 4:06 PM CT
Matt Walsh has been released by the Heat, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Our View: He spent the last two seasons in Europe, but didn't improve his game enough to nail down a spot on Miami's roster.
Shaun Livingston, G Friday 10/3, 11:09 AM CT
Point guard Shaun Livingston is close to signing a two-year contract with the Miami Heat, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Our View: Livingston should be ready to play sometime this season, and should compete with Marcus Banks and Mario Chalmers for playing time.
Udonis Haslem, F Thursday 10/2, 3:34 PM CT
Udonis Haslem is still suffering from a sprained foot, but he practiced on Thursday for the first time since camp opened, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: Like fellow teammate Michael Beasley, it is unknown whether or not he will be allowed to play in the team's first preseason contest on Sunday.
Michael Beasley, F Thursday 10/2, 3:32 PM CT
Heat rookie Michael Beasley returned to practice on Thursday after sitting out with a groin injury, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: Beasley still may not play in the team's first exhibition game, which takes place Sunday against the Detroit Pistons.
Udonis Haslem, F Wednesday 10/1, 4:28 PM CT
According to the Sun-Sentinel, Udonis Haslem said he has been spending time at center during the walkthroughs, indicating a three-forward front alongside Michael Beasley and Shawn Marion remains a possibility.

Our View: If Haslem whens the job at center, he will likely see similar playing time to last season. The Heat also have centers Mark Blount, Joel Anthony and Jamaal Magloire competing for the spot.
Joel Anthony, C Wednesday 10/1, 4:25 PM CT
The Sun-Sentinel reports that Joel Anthony has impressed early in camp and he could be a factor in the Heat's rotation at center this season. Anthony is the best shot-blocking threat with the Heat and is battling Mark Blount and Jamaal Magloire for playing time.

Our View: In 24 games last season, Anthony saw 20.7 minutes per game. That should be about what he earns this season but he will not likely be a fantasy factor.
