Portland signs F Jackson, two rookies
Portland, OR (Sports Network) - The Portland Trail Blazers signed a trio of players Wednesday including forward Luke Jackson and two rookies, center Steven Hill and guard Jamaal Tatum.

Per team policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Jackson, a four-year NBA veteran, posted career-highs in points (5.6) and rebounds (2.4) in 16.3 minutes for Miami last season. Brandon Roy is riding the stationary bike and doing some light shooting in his recovery from left knee surgery. He is still not cleared to jump but head coach Nate McMillan feels that he will be ready by the season opener according to the Oregonian.

Our View:We'll monitor this closrly but don't be surprised if Roy gets off to a slow start once he does return. Furthermore, Portland's depth at guard means the Blazers won't be in any hurry to rush Roy back into action.

Greg Oden, C

Greg Oden who was drafted more than 14 months ago, is looking to win the Rookie of the Year award this season, according to the AP. Oden missed all of last season after knee surgery.

Our View:He finally began taking part in 5-on-5 drills last week, playing twice with his Trail Blazers teammates, and seemed pleased with his progress.

Rudy Fernandez, PG

Wednesday 9/3, 11:43 AM CT

The Blazers aren't sure when guard Rudy Fernandez will arrive in Portland. Training camp begins on September 29. "We don't want him reporting the day before (camp), but we also want him to get his rest," general manager Kevin Pritchard tells The Oregonian. "We'd like him to get here soon enough that he can get acclimated."

Our View:Yep, it's a slow time of year for hoops news. The hype surrounding the Spaniard is growing, but we don't believe his landing in Portland will be resemble The Beatles first trip to the States.
