Stoudemire exits before pre-World Championship Tour
Las Vegas, NV (Sports Network) - Forward Amare Stoudemire will miss the USA's exhibition game against Puerto Rico Thursday evening and will not travel with the team during its pre-World Championship tour.

"During the past few days of our training camp we concluded that it would be difficult for Amare to continue with the rehabilitation he needs to do while the team continues its training in Asia," USA Basketball senior national team managing director Jerry Colangelo said. The Spurs re-signed big man Kurt Thomas on Tuesday, the Sports Network reports. Terms were not disclosed.

Our View:Thomas doesn't have any fantasy value at this point, but he can still board and knock guys to the floor.

Manu Ginobili, G

The Argentine Olympic Committee on Friday named Manu Ginobili one of the 12 players going to Beijing, according to the San Antonio Express. Ginobili injured his left ankle early in the Spurs playoff run, jamming it badly during the first-round series against the Phoenix Suns. Since returning to Argentina early this month, Ginobili has kept in daily contact with Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, assuring him he has had zero pain in the ankle, which the Spurs re-examined on June 19.

Our View:The 2004 champs will play the team that will give them the best chance to repeat.

Manu Ginobili continues to nurse a sore left ankle but he is optimistic he can compete in the Olympics with Argentina, according to the San Antonio Express-News. He said, "Today, I feel I am more in than out of the Olympics."

Our View:The Spurs will continue to monitor his ankle, and his status for Beijing should be determined within a week or two.
