John Carney was a perfect 3-for-3 Thursday night against the Redskins. He connected from 24, 25, and 47 yards and added an extra point.

Our View:Although Carney looked good he is only filling in for an injured Lawrence Tynes. Therefore, he will be demoted as soon as Tynes returns, which could be any day now.

The Giants have signed John Carney to handle placekicking duties in Thursday's season-opener against Washington, according to the NY Post.

John Carney signed a one-year contract with the Jaguars Tuesday, giving the club a replacement for injured placekicker Josh Scobee, the AP reports. The 43-year-old Carney was one of five kickers who worked out for the Jaguars earlier in the day.
