Terrell Owens admits a torn tendon in his ring finger is affecting his play, according to the Cowboys official site. He won't have surgery until after the season. "It's frustrating and I know my hand is messed up, and there's nothing I can do about that until after the season," Owens said. "So other than that, I know I'm not playing and I'm not catching the ball as well as I should have, and I know my hand is a part of it, but I'm not going to make that as an excuse." Owens leads the league in both touchdown catches (12) and dropped passes (14) through 15 games.

"He had a couple of nice catches, and you expect that, he's a great player," said Hall, who covered Owens most of the night. Owens reportedly ingested a large amount of a prescription pain killer and admitted to police that he was trying to harm himself. Police are expected to hold a news conference on the situation today. Owens was brought by a fire rescue crew to Baylor Medical Center, Dallas-Fort Worth television station KTVT reported, citing sources the television station did not identify. Three screws and a plate were inserted to repair Owens' broken finger, and if he can function with the plate, he may not miss a game. However, with the Cowboys idle this week, the most likely scenario has Owens missing Week 4's game against the Titans before coming back in Week 5 against his former team in Philadelphia. "No, that wouldn't shock me," one Cowboy official said with a smile when asked if Week 5 was Owens' likely return date.
