Newsbreakers
November 16, 2008
Running back Warrick Dunn (back) is active for the Week 11 game against the Vikings.

Our View:Earnest Graham is also active for a tough matchup against a very good Vikings run defense. Dunn should be on fantasy benches.
November 14, 2008
Warrick Dunn is progressing favorably from his back ailment, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

Our View:Dunn should be ready to back up Earnest Graham this weekend, but is not a recommended fantasy option against the Vikings' third ranked run defense.
November 13, 2008
Warrick Dunn was once again a full participant at practice on Thursday and appears very likely to play in Week 11, according to the Pewter Report.

Our View:With Ernest Graham likely to play but also likely to be somewhat limited because of a sore knee, the Bucs could certainly use Dunn a bit more extensively this weekend than they have in the past.
November 12, 2008
Running back Warrick Dunn practiced on Wednesday after missing the Bucs last game at Kansas City, according to the Pewterreport.com.

Our View:Head coach Jon Gruden was confident that Dunn would play against Minnesota, and that he would be ready to handle a significant workload.
November 1, 2008
Warrick Dunn has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Our View:He is nursing a pinched nerve in his back and did not make the trip to Kansas City. Michael Bennett will replace him as the Buccaneers' No. 2 running back behind starter Earnest Graham, and Bennett could be worth a look as a flex option in deeper leagues while facing a weak Chiefs' run defense.
October 31, 2008
Warrick Dunn is absent from Friday's walkthrough, according to the Tampa Tribune. He missed Thursday's practice as well due to a pinched nerve in his back.

Our View:It is unlikely he will be be available for Sunday's game at Kansas City, meaning Michael Bennett should fill in as the No. 2 running back behind starter Earnest Graham.
October 30, 2008
Warrick Dunn did not practice with the Buccaneers on Thursday due to a pinched nerve in his back, according to the Tampa Tribune. "We think he’s going to be OK, but we’ll let you know tomorrow," Bucs coach Jon Gruden remarked.

Our View:If Dunn cannot go, Michael Bennett will get playing time in his absence. The Bucs sound confident in his ability to play, but more will be known tomorrow.
October 29, 2008
There is a possibility that Warrick Dunn will not play this week against the Chiefs, as he is battling a pinched nerve in his back, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

Our View:Dunn had one run for no yards and two catches for eight yards last week, and was obviously hampered by the malady. Earnest Graham would get more work in Dunn's absence.
October 27, 2008
Warrick Dunn was hindered by his pinched nerve in his upper back as he only rushed once (for no yards) and caught two passes for eight yards in Sunday's close loss to Dallas, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

Our View:The injury could linger, but it is still a good sign that he was able to play a bit in the game. Earnest Graham's fantasy owners should continue to capitalize with a bigger workload, especially in the passing game.
October 26, 2008
Running back Warrick Dunn, who is struggling with back and ankle injuries, will be a game-time decision against Dallas, according to Steve Wyche of the NFL Network.

Our View:Even if he plays, we expect Dunn to be limited, which should result in increased carries and receptions for Earnest Graham.
October 24, 2008
Warrick Dunn is being listed as questionable for the Bucs Week 8 matchup with the Cowboys due to his back injury, according to the Pewter Report. "He practiced," said HC Jon Gruden. "I think on the paper that you have to give he got a full-participation grade. Honestly he will be a game time decision, and his role will be decided depending on how he feel

Our View:Well, you heard it straight from the coaches mouth. Dunn isn't a great bet to play, and he certainly isn't a good bet to be overly productive even if he does. It looks like it's Earnest Graham or bust for Tampa Bay this week.
October 23, 2008
Tampa Bay running back Warrick Dunn had a sprained ankle and stiff neck after the team's game against Seattle, but said he liked his chances of playing in this week's game against the Cowboys, according to the St. Petersburg Times. "It was one of those games were I took a couple of shots. But I have some days off. I'm good," Dunn remarked.

Our View:Dunn and the Bucs face off against a reeling Cowboys team that allows over 100 rushing yards per game and was sliced through last week by Steven Jackson of the Rams.
October 22, 2008
Warrick Dunn missed Wednesday's practice while dealing with a pinched nerve in his upper back, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Our View:It remains uncertain if he will practice or play this week. Earnest Graham would get more carries if Dunn is out against Dallas, who was steamrolled by Steven Jackson last weekend.
October 20, 2008
It has been revealed that Warrick Dunn suffered a pinched nerve in his upper back when he left Sunday night's game against Seattle, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

October 19, 2008
Warrick Dunn left the field in pain against the Seahawks and was replaced by Earnest Graham.

October 12, 2008
Warrick Dunn carried the ball 22 times for 115 yards and chipped in three receptions for 18 yards in the Week 6 win over Carolina.

September 17, 2008
Warrick Dunn sat out practice today, according to the Tampa Tribune. It is believed he was just given the day off, and not sitting out due to an injury.

Our View:Dunn has been active in the Buccaneers' offense over the first two games, as he rushed 21 times for 103 yards and hauled in four receptions for 32 yards. Dunn remains a favorable option in deeper PPR leagues. He should also be "handcuffed" to Earnest Graham.
September 11, 2008
Warrick Dunn will face his former team when the Buccaneers host the Falcons this weekend, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Dunn still feels an attachment to Atlanta, and intends to continue his charity work in the city.

Our View:Dunn holds some value in PPR leagues, but coach Jon Gruden intends to feature Earnest Graham more following his strong outing in limited action in Week 1, meaning Dunn should not be considered for lineups in standard leagues. Atlanta's defense also did a solid job of shutting down the Lions' running game last Sunday.
August 15, 2008
The St. Petersburg Times suggests that Warrick Dunn will be used more as a receiver than as a rusher this season.

Our View:Dunn is a solid fit for coach Jon Gruden's offense, and could hold favorable value in PPR leagues if he is in fact featured more in the passing game.
May 18, 2008
Tampa Bay veteran rusher Warrick Dunn may not be the young man he once was when he first donned the Bucs jersey, but he has every intent to fight for the starting job as he returns in 2008, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Our View:Dunn spoke with reporters following optional workouts at the Bucs' new training facilities yesterday and waxed poetic on his intentions to contribute in 2008. "I would never consider myself a third-down back. It's not my mentality. I don't play the game that way," said Dunn. "I don't think Coach Jon Gruden brought me here just to play on third down. He believes in me, and I just have to go out and prove it." If Dunn is anywhere close to the form he has displayed in recent seasons, he will be on the field. Look at the current depth chart and you can see the common theme running throughout: Veteran commodities. Dunn fits the mold, has done it for Gruden in the past, and could be on the verge of yet another surprising campaign.
March 10, 2008
Warrick Dunn has signed a 3-year, $6 million contract in order to play with the Buccaneers, this according to the Dallas Morning News. Dunn will support Ernest Graham as a pass catching threat who can give Graham an occasional break as both runners certainly bring different running styles to the table. Coming off a season where he averaged just 3.1 YPC and caught only 37 passes, the question for Dunn is how much does he have left?
March 10, 2008
Add the Tennessee Titans to the list of teams interested in free agent running back Warrick Dunn, according to the City Paper. “We could do a one-two punch, but you may look for a guy who is more of a third-down, or more of a situational type back,” general manager Mike Reinfeldt said of the free agents available. “That’s why you bring people in to look at and kind of evaluate how they fit and continue the process.” The Titans have discussed Warrick Dunn, but have yet to bring him in for a visit. There is a strong possibility that Tennessee will wait and address the position in the draft, given that the 2008 class is so deep at that spot.
March 7, 2008
The Dallas Cowboys appear to be genuinely interested about adding running back Warrick Dunn to the roster, according to Pro Football Weekly. Dunn’s representatives have already contacted Dallas, where Dunn could provide a nice change of pace to Marion Barber. Dunn has been overused in recent years, especially given his age, and if he could get a diet of 8-12 touches per game, he might be a very productive back on a per-rep basis. Dunn has said he would like to play one more season before retiring.
March 4, 2008
Updating a previous story, running back Warrick Dunn is receiving interest from a multitude of teams, according to the Houston Chronicle. The teams listed as potential suitors include the Houston Texans, the Detroit Lions, and the Denver Broncos. The Texans are reportedly seeking to meet with the veteran running back while the others are reported to have made contact with Dunn's agent.
March 4, 2008
The representatives for running back Warrick Dunn have put in a call to the Dallas Cowboys to gauge their interest in signing the recently released veteran, according to the Dallas Morning News. "The Cowboys are on Warrick's radar," said a representative at CAA, the firm that represents Dunn. CAA has not heard back with definitive word from Dallas. Dunn, 33, is one of just 22 backs in NFL history to rush for more than 10,000 yards. In 2007, his streak of three straight 1,000-yard seasons was snapped, as Dunn rushed for 720 yards and averaged 3.2 yards per carry. Dunn could provide a versatile compliment to Marion Barber in Dallas.
March 3, 2008
The Tampa Tribune reports that Warrick Dunn could be a Buccaneer again very soon, maybe as soon as Monday night. Just hours after being released by the Atlanta Falcons Monday, Dunn began his official visit with the Bucs, according to agent Jim Steiner. All indications have pointed to Dunn joining the Colts or the Texans, but being signed as insurance for a injury-riddled Bucs team could happen.
March 3, 2008
The Houston Texans are interested in bringing in veteran running back Warrick Dunn for a visit, according to the Houston Chronicle. Dunn played for Alex Gibbs, the Texans' assistant head coach who is installing the same zone-blocking system he used in Denver and Atlanta. Dunn, 33, is one of the true class acts in the NFL, but the organization didn’t have much luck bringing in an aging veteran back (Ahman Green) last year. The Texans, Cowboys, Buccaneers and Broncos appear to be interested in Dunn.
March 3, 2008
The Atlanta Falcons have parted ways with veteran tailback Warrick Dunn, according to a report on Pro Football Talk. Dunn asked to be released after the organization signed running back Michael Turner this weekend. Dunn is free to sign with any of the other 31 NFL teams, with Detroit and Indianapolis as possible landing spots according to rumors in the media.
March 3, 2008
The Detroit Lions are interested in adding a running back that can make people miss and reportedly will have interest in Warrick Dunn if he’s released by Atlanta, according to mlive.com. Dunn, 33, is better suited for a timeshare role at this stage of his career. The Lions are also interested in Julius Jones, and will likely draft a back during the first day of the 2008 NFL draft.
March 2, 2008
With the signing of Michael Turner, it's clear that the Falcons plan on moving forward without veteran Warrick Dunn. Dunn has requested his release from the team, according to SI.com. The team will almost surely honor his request. Assuming the 33-year-old is released, SI considers Houston the favorite to sign Dunn because of Alex Gibbs, who was hired by the Texans in January. Gibbs was the o-line coach in Atlanta for three of Dunn's six seasons and will be implementing the zone-blocking scheme in Houston that Dunn was so successful in in Atlanta. Indianapolis, Dallas and Denver have also been mentioned as possible landing spot for the veteran.
March 2, 2008
According to NFL Network's Adam Schefter, soon-to-be Falcon free agent Warrick Dunn is targeting the Colts as his team for the 2008 season. Dunn would be a solid backup for third-year tailback Joseph Addai.
February 7, 2008
Warrick Dunn could be asked to take a pay reduction or be one of several roster cuts according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. High-salaried players like linebacker Keith Brooking, wide receiver Joe Horn, offensive tackle Wayne Gandy, defensive tackle Rod Coleman and tight end Alge Crumpler are all potential causalities under the offensive and defensive systems of new head coach Mike Smith.
