John Kasay may lose his kickoff responsibilities when the season starts, although he would remain the Panthers field goal kicker, according to Scout.com. He may be replaced by Rhys Lloyd. "If that's going to make us better, that's who we'll keep," said Carolina coach John Fox.

Our View:Kasay can still perform on field goals. He was 24 of 28, including two-for-two from 50+ yards, He remains a viable option in the final round of fantasy drafts.

John Kasay may be relieved of kickoff duties this season, according to the Charlotte Observer. Rhys (pronounced Reese) Lloyd, an Englishman with a cannon-like right leg, has joined the 39 year-old in workouts. Kasay had just two kickoffs land in the end zone and kicked six out-of-bounds – most in the league. Signed by the Panthers for the final game of 2007, Lloyd equaled Kasay's season-long total in one game by knocking two kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks against Tampa Bay.

Our View:Kasay's kickoffs often gave opponents excellent field position as Carolina struggled to a 7-9 record. Having a kicker with Lloyd's distance could at least solve that problem.

John Kasay returned Sunday from a two-game absence and had no problems with his strained calf, as he kicked a Panthers' record six field goals.
November 26, 2004
Although John Kasay has practiced the last two days, the Panthers won't determine his status for Sunday until today or tomorrow, according to the Charlotte Observer. He missed last week's game with a strained calf.
November 25, 2004
The Charlotte Observer reports that Panthers kicker John Kasay practiced on Wednesday after missing Sunday's game with a strained calf. Kasay's status will be re-evaluated Thursday.
