Newsbreakers
November 23, 2008
Bobby Engram led the Seahawks in receiving yards on Sunday. He only had 34 yards on two receptions, so it's not difficult to see why the Seahawks lost when their passing game was that limited.

Our View:Engram hasn't had much fantasy value this year due to injuries to his own shoulder and starting quarterback Matt Hassellbeck as well.
October 5, 2008
Wide receiver Bobby Engram caught eight passes for 61 yards in the Week 5 loss to the Giants.

Our View:The Seahawks offense had an awful day, but Engram was clearly active in his first outing of the season. He could be a solid PPR play moving forward.
October 4, 2008
Bobby Engram is returning to action on Sunday, but he won't start. Instead, he will see action as a slot receiver, according to the Daily Herald. Keary Colbert or Billy McMullen will start opposite Deion Branch. Engram and Branch are expected to play roughly half the snaps.

Our View:You might be better off waiting to see how Engram looks for at least a week before re-inserting him into your lineup.
October 2, 2008
Seahawks receiver Bobby Engram is not happy that his contract was not re-negotiated after his 94-catch season last year, according to the AP.

Our View:Engram returns to the field this week after missing thee games due to a broken shoulder. Contract dispute or not, Engram has solid value in fantasy leagues and can safely returned to lineups.
October 1, 2008
The AP reports that Bobby Engram will not be eased back into the offense, but rather depended upon immediately. “I’m going to get him the ball. He’s going to get his touches,” coach Mike Holmgren said. “Having Bobby in the game, for all of us, it’s a feel-good thing. It’s comforting.” Holmgren also called him, “the soul of our team.”

Our View:Engram should be a good play going forward. He is a must-play in PPR leagues as he will receive plenty of targets from quarterback Matt Hasselbeck. The two actually planned their family vacations together in order to throw to each other. Engram had broken his shoulder in a preseason game.
September 29, 2008
The Seattle Times reports that Bobby Engram returned to practice after suffering a broken bone in his shoulder during an exhibition game.

Our View:Engram is an excellent source of production in PPR leagues due to his 94 catches in 16 games last season. With the depleted receiving corps in Seattle, expect him to get plenty of targets beginning in Week 5.
September 22, 2008
Bobby Engram is expected to be active for the Seahawks in Week 5, according to The News Tribune.

Our View:Engram, Deion Branch and Senaca Wallace are expected back after the Week 4 bye, leaving the Seahawks cautiously optimistic that they will be able to return to being one of the more impressive passing offenses in the NFL.
September 17, 2008
Sportsline.com reports that Bobby Engram has been ruled out for Week 3's game against St. Louis.

Our View:Engram was originally expected to miss 6-8 weeks, which places his return between Sep. 21 (Game 3) and Oct. 5 (Game 5). So expect a Week 5 return. If he's been dropped in your league and you can afford a roster spot, he is certainly worth picking up.
September 7, 2008
Seahawks insiders have advised Pro Football Weekly that veteran wide receiver Bobby Engram is saying he’ll miss only the first two games of the regular season due to a cracked shoulder bone.

Our View:Engram was originally expected to miss 6-8 weeks, which places his return between Sep. 21 (Game 3) and Oct. 5 (Game 5). The Seahawks have a "bye" during Week 4, which could give Engram an extra week to heal.
September 3, 2008
Bobby Engram, who is rehabbing a cracked shoulder, was officially ruled out of the Week 1 game today by head coach Mike Holmgren.

Our View:Engram is expected to miss four to eight weeks.
August 11, 2008
Updating an earlier report, Bobby Engram cannot be placed on the PUP list since he was injured after camp began which means he will have to take a spot on the team's active roster heading into the season, according to the News Tribune.

Our View:As a result of this situation, the team will likely have to cut either Justin Forsett of David Hawthorne to leave the roster spot open for Engram, even if he can't play the first couple of weeks of the regular season.
August 11, 2008
Bobby Engram will miss 6-8 weeks due to a cracked bone in his shoulder, according to the News Tribune.

Our View:Engram was a top-32 fantasy receiver prior to this news. Courtney Taylor moves up the depth chart into Engram's spot, but Ben Obomanu will give him competition. Engram will not be back before Week 3 of the regular season.
July 24, 2008
As expected, Bobby Engram has reported to training camp with the Seahawks, according to the AP.

Our View:He is still unhappy with his contract, and will likely be playing with a chip on his shoulder this season if the team continues to refuse to re-negotiate with him. It is unlikely he will challenge 94 receptions again, but could still have a productive campaign.
June 12, 2008
Bobby Engram will still report to training camp, maybe, if you ask HC Mike Holmgren, according to NFL.com. "I've mentioned the fact that I thought he would be at training camp, and I still believe that. Now Bobby wouldn't be the first player who I've coached -- who I like -- who felt he needed to make a statement of some kind involving training camp."

Our View:Engram caught a career-high 94 passes last season and is looking for a substantial increase over his current $1.7 million contract. Stay tuned.
June 8, 2008
Seattle receiver Bobby Engram is threatening to skip the team's training camp, according to CBSSports.com.

Our View:The 35-year-old veteran is the midst of a contract dispute with the Seahawks that has already led to him intentionally skipping the team's volunatry minicamps. He would like to negotiate a deal that will pay him more than the $1.7 million he is due to make this season, the final year of a two-year agreement. Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren hasn't spoken with Engram since the veteran dropped a letter onto the desks of Holmgren and team president Tim Ruskell in early May informing them he would not be attending minicamps.
June 3, 2008
Bobby Engram skipped another voluntary minicamp session on Monday, but coach Mike Holmgren doesn't think he will be a distraction and expects him for training camp, according to CBSsports.com. Holmgren said, "Absolutely, he will be here at training camp. There is always a chance you will have a contract thing, and we've got that thing with Bobby."

Our View:Engram set new career highs with 94 receptions for 1147 yards in 2007, but the team suffered injuries to Deion Branch and DJ Hackett, and was forced to throw more due to the ineffective play of Shaun Alexander on the ground. He wants more money this season, but the 35-year old vet will be hard-pressed to challenge last season's production again.
May 7, 2008
The Seattle Seahawks are not going to renegotiate wide receiver Bobby Engram’s contract, despite Engram’s displeasure with his current salary, according to the Tacoma News Tribune. Engram skipped the second day of the team’s four-day voluntary mini-camp on Tuesday in protest of what he feels is an unfair contract based on his record-setting production last year. But the Seahawks are adamant that Engram plays out the final season of his two-year, $3.4 million contract, after which they would be willing to negotiate with Engram as a free agent.

Our View:The team feels that it rewarded Engram with his current two-year deal after Engram missed nine games during the 2006 with a thyroid condition, a year in which he caught only 24 passes for 290 yards. Engram was paid $1.4 million for that season. On the flip side, Engram is getting up there in age (35) and realizes that coming off of a career year this is probably his last best chance to secure a better deal.
May 6, 2008
Bobby Engram, who participated in a mandatory mini-camp that was conducted over the weekend, was absent from the voluntary sessions that started on Monday, according to ProFootballTalk. The team said that Engram was absent for "personal reasons," and he is believed to be unhappy with his contract. Engram is entering the final year of his current contract, and will make a base salary of $1.7 million. Team-mate Deion Branch will earn more than $4 million, and Nate Burleson will score $3.25 million.

Our View:Engram had a strong campaign in 2007 as he hauled in 94 receptions for 1147 yards and six touchdowns, but he is 35-years old. If he decides to hit the open market next March, his stock as a free agent will be low.
