Greg Ellis returned to the field on Wednesday, according to the Dallas Morning News. He did not attend most of the team's OTA sessions. Ellis and coach Wade Phillips met Monday to talk about Ellis' displeasure with the amount of work he has received in practice. Phillips said, "As much as a number of reps he's getting or not getting, I don't think that's as important as being with your teammates and working with them on a voluntary basis."

Our View:Ellis and Phillips are believed to be on the same page now. He only made 31 tackles (24 solo) in 2007, but carried his weight with 12.5 sacks and three forced fumbles.

Greg Ellis missed Tuesday's OTA sessions, but could attend today, according to the Dallas Morning News. He has missed several sessions overall, as he has been upset due to reduced practice time.

Our View:The team wanted to give more reps to second-year outside linebacker Anthony Spencer, who didn't play much as a rookie in 2007. Ellis spoke to Wade Phillips on Monday, and Ellis is now on the same page. He only made 31 tackles (24 solo) in 2007, but carried his weight with 12.5 sacks and three forced fumbles.

Greg Ellis made his season debut on Sunday, and the timing makes more sense after what we learned later in the day. Agent Butch Williams was in Dallas over the weekend, and the Cowboys reportedly worked out a restructured contract for Ellis, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The veteran's contract still runs through 2009, but a portion of his base salary has been converted into bonuses.

Greg Ellis is active and will play on Sunday against the Rams. He has been out since the first day of training camp due to left heel bursitis, a condition related to the torn Achilles he suffered last November.

Greg Ellis worked out hard on Wednesday and gave the team some hope that he might be able to return in Week 4. "I am going to see how much I can do," Ellis tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "That's the plan." He is dealing with left heel bursitis, which is likely related to the torn left Achilles he had repaired last November. Anthony Spencer is starting in his place.
