Our View:The 33-year-old Ellis is splitting time with second-year pro Anthony Spencer, who is reportedly blowing people away with his performance, meaning Ellis needed to get back on the field pronto so he wouldn't get lost in the mix. |

August 1, 2008 Greg Ellis was thought to be sidelined for the Cowboys afternoon practice on Friday due to a sore back, but he still managed to make it out onto the field, according to the Dallas Morning News. Our View:The team will likely be careful with the 33 year old this early in camp, so don't be alarmed if he misses a practice or two unless something more serious is announced. |

June 5, 2008 Greg Ellis returned to the field on Wednesday, according to the Dallas Morning News. He did not attend most of the team's OTA sessions. Ellis and coach Wade Phillips met Monday to talk about Ellis' displeasure with the amount of work he has received in practice. Phillips said, "As much as a number of reps he's getting or not getting, I don't think that's as important as being with your teammates and working with them on a voluntary basis." Our View:Ellis and Phillips are believed to be on the same page now. He only made 31 tackles (24 solo) in 2007, but carried his weight with 12.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. |

He has missed several sessions overall, as he has been upset due to reduced practice time.
