The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in need of a receiving threat, and names being thrown around by Ira Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune are that of future Hall of Famers Torry Holt and Tony Gonzalez.

Our View:Kaufman is delusional if he thinks Holt or Gonzalez will be traded to the Bucs. As bad as those teams are, trading what may be the most popular player on their respective teams would do far more harm than any draft pick could bring.

The first thing that new head coach Jim Haslett did as the Rams top guy was to insert Marc Bulger back into the starting quarter back role. The next thing he wants to do is get the ball to Torry Holt more. Haslett told the AP, "I would like to see Torry touch the ball a little bit more, especially early in the game."

Our View:In four games under Scott Linehan, Holt only had 187 yards receiving and a touchdown. The news that Haslett wants to get the ball to Holt more should be good news for owners who own the receiver.

Rams head coach Scott Linehan is attempting to trade or release wide receiver Torry Holt because their relationship is to the point that they despise each other, according to Howard Balzer of InsideStL.com.

Our View:Linehan recently told the media that the relationship between he and Holt was "great," though they have never really seemed to be on the same page. This really can't end soon enough for Rams fans.

Torry Holt apologized to quarterback Marc Bulger for not making enough plays for him to prevent him from getting benched according to the Belleville News Democrat. He referred to the Rams situation as "madness."

Our View:Holt has 11 catches and 122 yards to go with one touchdown this season. His apology should be extended to fantasy owners who drafted him high. Expect a better effort from Holt going forward, expecially if Bulger finds himself back behind center.
September 24, 2008
Torry Holt is off to the slowest start of his 10-year career with only 11 receptions for 122 yards and one score over his first three games, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:The team is going with Trent Green at quarterback over Marc Bulger, but may not improve the offense, as the line remains unstable with 11 sacks allowed so far. This week Holt must face the Bills' fifth ranked pass defense, and he still lacks a worthy wingman to draw attention on the other side of the field.

Torry Holt blames the offensive line for the Rams' struggles over the first two weeks of the season, according to the Charlotte Observer. Holt said, "Those guys, the offensive line, have to continue to take more pride in what they're doing to keep the quarterback clean. It's going to come down to the guys up front that's protecting Marc and giving Steven Jackson running lanes and giving us time to get open in the secondary."

Our View:The Rams' offense could be headed for another long day against Seattle, as they currently lead the NFL with nine sacks, but Holt should not be benched by fantasy owners, as he scored five touchdowns over his last six meetings with Seattle.
September 14, 2008
Torry Holt bounced back from his disappointing Week 1 with six catches for 76 yards and a touchdown in the loss to the Giants Sunday.

Our View:The Rams will probably be playing from behind most weeks, so Holt should continue to be a solid fantasy producer.
September 13, 2008
Torry Holt had just one catch in the Rams' Week 1 loss, but coach Scott Linehan said the team has to find a way to get Holt the ball even when he's double-teamed. "You can't just say, 'Well he's dealt with, he's out of the game,'" Linehan said in the Bellville News-Democrat. "You've got to be creative. I know (offensive coordinator) Al (Saunders) did a great job of making the adjustments necessary to get Torry more involved and all that stuff, but we've got to play better as an offense.

Our View:The Rams offense as a whole was horrid in Week 1. Once they get going, Holt will be fine.
September 8, 2008
Marc Bulger commented on Torry Holt, who only caught one pass in Sunday's 38-3 loss to the Eagles, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Bulger said, "They doubled him a lot and singled up our (flanker) a lot. And once Drew got hurt, they stayed in that."

Our View:Bulger admitted that he should have checked down the ball more to running back Steven Jackson to counteract the Eagles' coverage. Drew Bennett is slated for an MRI today to determine the extent of his left foot injury. The team is already feeling the loss of Isaac Bruce.
September 7, 2008
Perennial all Pro receiver Torry Holt struggled against the Eagles posting one lone reception for nine yards in the season opening loss.

Our View:Despite playing from behind all day long, the Rams couldn't generate any offense against Philadelphia. Don't go into panic mode on Holt, who is a veteran with a proven track record of excellence.
September 6, 2008
Torry Holt commented on his troublesome knee, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He said his knee has held up well through the preseason and added, "I feel a lot better than what I did last year at this time."

Our View:If healthy, Holt should once again challenge 100 receptions and a strong yardage total as the Rams' top target in the passing game.
September 2, 2008
The St. Louis Rams have named their captains for the season, and wide receiver Torry Holt is among them, according to Scout.com. Also named captain were quarterback Marc Bulger, linebacker Will Witherspoon, safety Corey Chavous and safety Todd Johnson.

Our View:Despite persistent reports of a lingering knee injury, Holt has said it is not an issue and his knee feels good. He should once again offer fantasy owners steady numbers throughout the season.
August 23, 2008
Torry Holt didn't play in the Rams' second preseason game due to tightness in his back, but is expected to play Saturday against Baltimore, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:This is good news that he is expected to play, as the third preseason game is viewed as a primer for Week 1.
August 16, 2008
Rams receiver Torry Holt may sit out Saturday's preseason contest against San Diego due to tightness in his back, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:Fantasy owners need not worry about the consistent Holt, as the injury is nothing serious and he figures to have another solid season.
May 11, 2008
Torry Holt cleared the air about his contract and future on Saturday. "I have this year and next year, and hopefully I can finish those years out," Holt explains to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "Then, I'll see where I'm at. I'll see where I'm at physically. I'll see where I'm at emotionally, financially. And then, if they would like to do something here, I'll consider it. If not, then I'll have the option to go and explore and give my services somewhere else. So if that happens, Carolina will definitely be the first choice." Holt recently talked about his wishes to play alongside his brother Terrence, who plays for the Panthers. The stud receiver also says that his left knee feels much better this offseason.

Our View:These comments don't do anything to change Holt's fantasy value for 2008 or beyond. The perennial Pro Bowler remains a strong fantasy pick, but his long-term, keeper value is fading a bit due to a balky left knee.

Head coach Scott Linehan said that recent trade rumors involving WR Torry Holt — the Eagles and Bengals were mentioned as possible suitors — were nothing but hot air, according to Pro Football Weekly. If anything, with primarily return specialist Dante Hall currently shaping up as the top No. 3 wide receiver candidate behind Holt and Drew Bennett, the Rams need more receivers — a need they are expected to address in the draft as early as the third round.
March 9, 2008
Torry Holt is not on the trading block, according to The St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Scott Linehan commented that the Rams are not shopping Holt by stating, "There's no interest, no discussions about trading Torry Holt. He's on our team, we want him on our team, and I hope he feels the same way."
March 6, 2008
Torry Holt, who is a seven-time Pro Bowler, has flown under the trade radar, but St. Louis might find their rebuilding efforts easier if they were to move the star receiver, according to the Delaware News-Journal. Holt, 31, is slated to make $5.65 in base salary in 2008 and $6.65 next in 2009, excluding bonuses. His agent, Greg Williams, said he called the Rams at the end of the season to discuss their plans for Holt, but hadn't heard back from the organization. "I didn't know if they would be rebuilding or looking to trade [Holt] or if he'd be there to play out his contract," Williams said. "I think if they were going to do something, they would let us know. From my understanding, they have every intention of bringing him back." St. Louis has already released Isaac Bruce, leaving them thin at the position. We highly doubt the Rams have any intentions of moving Holt, unless someone offers a deal too good to be true.
