Drew Brees continued his fine playing on Sunday against Jacksonville, completing 35-of-49 passes for 445 yards and three touchdowns. After throwing just one TD pass in the first four games of the season, Brees has tossed 11 touchdowns in the last four. It appears safe to consider him a top 5 QB the rest of the way.

Drew Brees has already taken his final snap of the preseason. The Saints announced on Monday that Brees will not play in Thursday’s preseason finale against the Dolphins. “I’m probably going to start Jamie (Martin) and give him a good half’s worth of work,” head coach Sean Payton told the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

The Saints will battle the Steelers in the Hall of Fame game on Sunday, but fans shouldn't expect to see much of Drew Brees, Deuce McAllister, and other Saints regulars. Brees is expected to see 12-to-16 snaps, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Other starters on both sides of the ball will likely last only one quarter, if not less.

Saints spokesman Greg Bensel said that Drew Brees is expected to require six to eight weeks of recovery time for the dislocated left elbow he sustained in the Pro Bowl, according to the Times-Picayune. X-rays to his non-throwing elbow were negative for fractures or ligament damage, though he's scheduled for an MRI on Sunday.
