Drew Brees completed 26-of-30 passes for 320 yards and three touchdowns in the Week 6 win over Oakland.

Our View:Over the past three weeks, Brees has thrown seven touchdowns against three interceptions, and he has 1,993 passing yards on the season.
October 6, 2008
Drew Brees completed 26 of 46 passes for 330 yards and a touchdown though he was also saddled with two interceptions (one went right through the hands of Lance Moore).

Our View:That's 1,673 yards and counting for Brees who is on pace to rack up a sick total of 5,354 yards which would demolish the single season record of 5,084 yards set by Dan Marino back in 1984. Just imagine what he'll do once his top target, Marques Colston, returns.

New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees has won the NFC's Offensive Player of the Month award for his work in September, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:Brees completed 72.3 percent of his passes while throwing for 1,343 yards and eight touchdowns to go with four interceptions.
September 28, 2008
Quarterback Drew Brees completed 23-of-35 passes for 363 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception in the Week 4 win over the 49ers.

Our View:Who needs Marques Colston and Jeremy Shockey, right? Brees has outings of 343, 363 and 421 passing yards through four games, and he remains an elite fantasy option.

Saints coach Sean Payton has been fined $15,000 because he criticized officials after the team's Week 3 loss to Denver, according to ESPN.com. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell also sent each team a document reminding them that officials are not allowed to be criticized in public.

Our View:We don't completely understand why officials can never even be mentioned publicly. Certainly, constantly berating them to the press is one thing, but pointing out their critical mistakes after they are so heavily involved in a game does not seem outrageous.

Drew Brees was a man on a mission on Sunday in Denver. The quarterback completed 39 of 48 passes for 421 yards. However, all of his work came with just one touchdown.

Our View:Fantasy owners are no doubt disappointed with the one TD, but how impressive is this performance in light of Marques Colston's absence? Reggie Bush paced the receivers with 11 catches and the touchdown. Seldom heard of Lance Moore had seven catches, as did Jeremy Shockey. Brees remains one of the elite fantasy quarterbacks going.
September 14, 2008
Drew Brees had a lackluster effort against the 'Skins Sunday, throwing for 216 yards and a touchdown while getting picked off twice.

Our View:Not a horrible day from a fantasy prospective for Brees, but his owners were expecting more in a pretty good matchup.

The Saints have extended coach Sean Payton's contract through the 2012 season. The financial details of the deal have yet to be disclosed, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:Payton is one of the brightest offensive minds in the league and is worthy of this new deal.
September 7, 2008
Quarterback Drew Brees completed 23-of-32 passes for 343 yards with three touchdowns against one inteception, to lead the Saints to a 24-20 victory over the Buccaneers.

Our View:Brees was not only efficient, but he also spread the ball around getting seven different receivers involved in the passing game.

The New Orleans Saints will be able to play their Week 1 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home, as Hurricane Gustav did not damage the Superdome, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:Had there been significant damage to the facility, the Saints might have had to switch the game to Tampa, much like they did a few years ago, playing a home game in New York.
August 16, 2008
Drew Brees completed 12-of-17 passes for 147 yards and two scores in Saturday's preseason game against the Texans.

Our View:Yep, it looks like Drew is ready for the regular campaign.
August 5, 2008
Drew Brees and the rest of the Saints starters are expected to play as much as a quarter in Thursday's preseason opener. The quarterback will be without two of his top targets, as Jeremy Shockey (leg) and Marques Colston (knee) will sit out, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Our View:The initial preseason game rarely tells us much, but it'll be interesting to see if some of the Saints other pass-catchers can step up to help Brees - namely Robert Meachem.
June 4, 2008
The New Orleans Saints have fired Vice President of Player Personnel Rick Mueller, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

Our View:The rumors surrounding this situation suggest Mueller was mixed into negative emotions with general manager Mickey Loomis, and Loomis was the choice of team ownership. Mueller was charged with scouting and player evaluations and a review of his work makes it difficult to assert he was let go do to bad job performance (can you say Marques Colston?).
March 31, 2008
Quarterback Drew Brees is enjoying a rehabilitation-free offseason for the first time since he joined the New Orleans Saints two years ago, according to the WBRZ News 2 Louisiana. When Brees signed with the Saints after the 2005 season, he was in the middle of recovering from major surgery on his throwing shoulder. Last season, he was recovering from a dislocated non-throwing elbow that he suffered in the Pro Bowl. Brees has passed for 8,841 yards and 54 touchdowns over the past two seasons, so the sky appears to be the limit for the quarterback, who will participate fully in the offseason program for the first time in two seasons.
