Quarterback Carson Palmer will meet with Dr. David Altchek in New York on Monday. He is hoping to get good news about his strained and inflamed right elbow. "I was told it would get better after about a month or two and every day its gotten better, so thats a good thing," Palmer tells the team's official web site. "Hopefully it got better over the last week. It was my decision to get a second opinion and have someone else look at it other then our doctors. Hopefully they'll have a different opinion and say it looks a lot better and I'll be able to play." He originally suffered the injury on September 21. MRIs have shown no structural damage.

Our View:Palmer may be hoping to return this week, but we feel less optimistic. The Bengals are 0-6 and have no reason to rush him back before he is at or very near 100 percent. We're sure there will be plenty of updates throughout the coming week.

Bengals inactives: QB Carson Palmer (3rd), K Shayne Graham, SS Dexter Jackson, LB Corey Mays, WR Andre Caldwell, WR Jerome Simpson, DT John Thornton, DT Jason Shirley.

Our View:Ryan Fitzpatrick is starting at quarterback in place of Carson Palmer, and Dave Rayner is the Bengals' kicker.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports Carson Palmer (elbow) will be the Bengals' third quarterback and inactive for Sunday's game.

Our View:Ryan Fitzpatrick will start at quarterback with Jordan Palmer as his backup.

FOX Sports believes Carson Palmer could lose his starting job if the Bengals don't start winning games.

Our View:Palmer is out today with an inflamed elbow, and the team may opt to keep him out if they fall too far out of the playoff race, to prevent the risk of further injury. This is merely speculation at this point, but Palmer owners should start looking for solid insurance just in case.

Carson Palmer will not start this weekend due to an inflamed elbow, according to Bengals.com. Coach Marvin Lewis said it's possible Palmer could be the backup to Ryan Fitzpatrick. "We're trying to get it not a week-to-week thing. We want to get the thing calmed down so it doesn't give him any irritation or problems at all," Lewis said.

Our View:You've got to be really concerned with Palmer. He looked timid last week and clearly this elbow problem isn't going away. Fitzpatrick was not very good in his last start for Pallmer, throwing three interceptions, losing a fumble and accumulating a QB rating of just 44.5
