The San Francisco Chronicle continues to doubt DeShaun Foster's ability to earn playing time this season. Frank Gore and Michael Robinson have both earned substantial praise from Mike Martz.

Our View:It appears that Michael Robinson, not Foster, will be the handcuff selection for owner's who take Frank Gore early on in drafts.

Running back DeShaun Foster is impressing San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Nolan, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. "He's got soft hands," said Nolan "I think he adds to the passing game as much as the running game. His main role would be to take the No. 1 job if the unmentionable happens. He gives us another starter if something happens to Frank Gore."

Our View:Foster was a very average back in Carolina, but he does have talent and is an outstanding receiver. He makes for a serviceable handcuff to Gore, especially in PPR leagues.

The San Francisco 49ers have reached a two-year contract worth $1.8 million with former Carolina running back DeShaun Foster, according to ESPN. Foster will provide a serviceable backup for incumbent running back Frank Gore, but his value in the fantasy world, which was never great, takes a southward tumble.

ESPN's John Clayton is reporting that rumors persist that ex-Panther tailback DeShaun Foster could be heading west. Clayton suggests that the 49ers will sign Foster to be Frank Gore's backup, and the team will sign him in the next couple of days. The report notes that the 49ers made quick contact with Foster once the Panthers released him late last week.

The Bucs have targeted signing DeShaun Foster, who was released Thursday by the Panthers, according to the St. Petersburg Times. His agent already has been contacted, and Foster is expected to meet with the Bucs next week. With Cadillac Williams likely out until at least the middle of next season, the Bucs need some depth in the backfield beyond Michael Pittman.
