The Oakland Raiders could release PK Sebastian Janikowski, according to a report in the Denver Post. These rumors could have some validity, because Janikowski has been very inconsistent during his eight-year career in Oakland – making only 76.8% of his kicks. During the past three seasons, he has missed 26 field goals, including nine last season.

Raiders head coach Lane Kiffin isn't about to give up on his kicker. Sebastian Janikowski has made only one of five field goal chances this year. "We're still behind him, and he's going to win some games from us," Kiffin tells the Sacramento Bee.

Sebastian Janikowski practiced Thursday and is expected to play Sunday at Cincinnati despite his sore back. He's unusable for fantasy however, given how putrid the Raiders offense has been all year.

Sebastian Janikowski kicked some balls in practice Friday to test out his sore back, according to the Contra Costa Times. However, coach Art Shell said he would wait to see how Janikowski handles kicking today before determining whether the kicker will be active tomorrow. Paul Edinger likely would be signed if Janikowski is unable to go.

Sebastian Janikowski is hoping to return to practice Friday, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. If he can't go, the team will look into another kicking option for the weekend. Janikowski is battling a sore back.
