Bubba Franks had a solid first practice hauling in a handful of passes during 7-on-7 drills with Chris Baker unavailable because he is unhappy with his contract, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View:Just as the article says, Baker is clearly the better player at this point and it would take a heck of a lot going right for Franks to have any value whatsoever this season.

The New York Jets signed tight end Bubba Franks not to bring in a new starter, but to mentor emerging incumbent Chris Baker, according to USA Today. Franks, who played in only eight games last season with Green Bay because of a torn knee ligament that didn't require surgery, caught a career-low 18 passes last season. He should be a reliable back-up and possible red zone threat in the Big Apple.

The Jets have agreed to terms with Bubba Franks on a free-agent contract, according to the Detroit Free Press. He hasn't had much fantasy value in recent years, and that likely won't change as a backup to Chris Baker.

Bubba Franks is drawing considerable interest around the league, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Franks will likely have a new home before the end of the week, according to his agent, Eugene Mato. There have been some rumors that Franks could land in Seattle, after the team lost out in the Alge Crumpler sweepstakes.

The Packers released veteran Bubba Franks Wednesday, according to Sports Network. Franks has spent his entire career with the Packers but hasn't been targeted much by Brett Favre over the last few seasons. He doesn't figure to land a starting job anywhere.

Packers GM Ted Thompson has several tough decisions to make this month according to PackersNews.com. Among those is whether to bring back highly paid veteran TE Bubba Franks. With an expected $25 million in cap room and a team that advanced to the NFC championship game, Thompson will probably ask several players to take pay cuts and be more active in free agency in an attempt to get the team over the hump and into the Super Bowl. Franks is one of the players expected to be asked to assist the team by taking a salary reduction.

Bubba Franks was limited to the jog-through portion of practice on Tuesday, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. He is still nursing a knee injury that caused him to miss nine regular season games.

Our View:Franks returned for the last two regular season games, so he should be healthy enough to play this week against the Seahawks. That being said, starter Donald Lee is still the better fantasy option.
