The Raiders have signed free agent quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo , according to Raiders.com.

Our View:The Raiders selected Tuiasosopo in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft where he played from 2001 through 2006. In 2007, Tuiasosopo spent the season with the New York Jets.

Marques Tuiasosopo and the Jets have agreed in principle on a free-agent contract, according to the Star-Ledger. He'll compete for a backup job during training camp.

Marques Tuiasosopo visited with Carolina Wednesday and appears to be the leading candidate for the Panthers' backup job, according to the Charlotte Observer. Tuiasosopo appeared in two games for Oakland last year, completing six of 13 passes for 68 yards with a TD and two INTs.

Marques Tuiasosopo replaced a struggling Andrew Walter on Sunday but didn't have much more success. Tuiasosopo completed 4-of-9 passes for 52 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. He could start in place of Walter next week if Aaron Brooks isn't ready to return.

Raiders coach Norv Turner stated Wednesday that Marques Tuiasosopo would not get his second start this week against the Browns, according to the AP. He will be replaced by Kerry Collins. Tuiasosopo completed 14-of-26 passes for 124 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, and he also lost two fumbles against the Jets last week.
