October 5, 2008
Week 5 inactives: K Lawrence Tynes, WR Taye Biddle, CB Terrell Thomas, RB Danny Ware, CB Sam Madison, LB Jonathan Goff, OT Adam Koets, DE Jerome McDougle.

Our View:John Carney will continue to serve as the kicker. Mario Manningham is available at receiver, but the rookie may not have much of a role.

Lawrence Tynes has been kicking all week, but coach Tom Coughlin has yet to make a decision as to whether he will be active this weekend, according to the NY Post. His knee is not fully healed, as he's experienced some swelling after his workouts. "But I didn't have any pain associated with it, so that's good," Tynes said. "I feel like I can play. I feel I can give 100 percent. I don't have any limitations. I'm sick of watching."

Our View:The Post speculates that the team will probably go with John Carney one more week just to be safe. Carney would be the safer play for fantasy owners, as he's nailed all nine of his field-goal attempts so far.

It looks like Lawrence Tynes is still not close to returning to the Giants. After every workout, Tynes' left knee swells up, according to the AP.

Our View:With Tynes still on the mend, John Carney will continue the place kicking duties.

Giants inactives: K Lawrence Tynes, CB Terrell Thomas, CB R.W. McQuarters, RB Danny Ware, LB Jonathan Goff, T Adam Koets, WR Mario Manningham, DE Jerome McDougle.

Our View:None of the players on this week's inactive list are fantasy relevant. John Carney continues to start in place of Tynes, and has been a solid option through the first two weeks of the season.

Kicker Lawrence Tynes is improving as he rehabs a sprained left knee. "He is advancing and he will do more work this week and hopefully he is continuing to make progress," head coach Tom Coughlin offers the team's official web site. John Carney has been kicking in place of Tynes. Coughlin says that Tynes is close to being able to kick 40-50 balls per day.

Our View:In typical Coughlin fashion, he didn't give way any added information here. The Giants are on the bye in Week 4, and we continue to view Week 5 as a likely return date for Tynes.
