Lions coach Steve Mariucci named Joey Harrington his starting quarterback for Week 15 after refusing to commit to a starter on Monday, according to the AP. "It's my decision."

On Monday, coach Steve Mariucci said he was not sure if he would start Joey Harrington or Mike McMahon at quarterback this week, according to the Detroit News. He added that Harrington still has to prove he's the long-term starter. "That's fair to say," he said. "There's more proving to do. You bet."

Joey Harrington is still the starting quarterback for the Lions, though he didn't exactly receive a glowing endorsement over backup Mike McMahon by coach Steve Mariucci, according to the Detroit Free Press. "Joey's our starting quarterback, Mike's our backup, and if we chose to play Mike in the next three weeks at all, we'll make that decision when the time comes or if the situation presents itself," Mariucci said. Harrington was just 5-for-22 for 47 yards Sunday, though it was very windy and his receivers dropped several passes.

Battling extremely windy conditions, Joey Harrington completed just 5-of-22 passes for 47 yards at Lambeau Field on Sunday. He ran four times for 29 yards. His receivers didn't make things any easier with numerous dropped passes, though it's difficult to post numbers that poor without carrying a hefty share of the blame. Harrington was probably never in danger of being pulled considering the Lions were leading for most of the afternoon.

Although he replaced Joey Harrington with Mike McMahon yesterday, Lions coach Steve Mariucci said afterward that Harrington will start the next game, according to the Detroit News. "Joey's our starting quarterback," Mariucci said. "Mike's our backup. The score got away from our football team. I thought it was a good time to jump Mike McMahon in there."

November 23, 2004
Lions coach Steve Mariucci stopped short of blaming Joey Harrington for the team's four-game losing streak, though he did indicate that Mike McMahon would continue to receive a small percentage of snaps with the first-team offense in practice, according to the Detroit Free Press.
November 21, 2004
Joey Harrington seems to be doing everything possible to not keep his job. With the Lions already questioning the rate of his development, he was just 12-for-19 for 91 yards, a touchdown and an interception on Sunday. Down by three late in the fourth quarter, he twice failed to lead the team into field goal range; the last attempt ended in a terrible interception to lose the game.
November 16, 2004
Although his starting job doesn't appear to be in danger, Joey Harrington was told by QB coach Greg Olson that Mike McMahon may get additional practice time this week, according to the Detroit Free Press. "Hey, maybe it'll light a fire under me," Harrington said. "Maybe it'll kick me out of this slump. That's fine."
