Saints inactives: TE Jeremy Shockey, WR Marques Colston, QB Joey Harrington, CB Aaron Glenn, SS Kevn Kaesviharn, WR David Patten, DT Antwan Lake and DT Sedrick Ellis.

Our View:Marques Colston and David Patten are both inactive leaving Devery Henderson and Lance Moore to start. Robert Meachem will also receive additional playing time in the slot.

The return of tight end Jeremy Shockey to the Saints this week does not look like it is going to happen, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:Shockey did not practice on Friday, as he is just two weeks removed from sports hernia surgery. Look for him to have a much better chance of playing Week 7.

Jeremy Shockey returned to practice on Wednesday. The New Orleans Times-Picayune says he should still be considered questionable for Sunday's game against Oakland, but coach Sean Payton said he was more optimistic than earlier in the week.

Our View:It's certainly looking up for Shockey and we should have a better idea of his availability by Friday. If he can not go this week, he seems a lock to play in Week 7.

Updating an earlier report, Jeremy Shockey's surgery went so well that the team is hopeful he will be able to return for Week 6, according to The Times-Picayune.

Our View:HC Sean Payton stated that Shockey already feels "comfortable" as the medical procedure wasn't as extensive as previously believed, so there appears to be real hope that Shockey will be available available for the team's home game against the Raiders.

Jeremy Shockey underwent successful surgery on his injured groin, and apparently the injury itself was not as extensive as first thought, according to The Times-Picayune. "They called it a sports hernia because it was in that general area," said Shockey. "But there was no protrusion, so it was even better than they thought."

Our View:We don't yet know if that means that Shockey will return sooner than expected, but it sure seems that we could be looking at a time frame that is closer to the low end of the estimate (three) than the long (six).
