November 19, 2008
Jeremy Shockey was limited in practice on Wednesday, according to the Packers' official site.

Our View:Shockey has had almost no fantasy value this season. It would be wise to find another option for this weekend if possible.
November 17, 2008
The Saints may be regretting trading for tight end Jeremy Shockey, who they are frustrated with (as seen by Drew Brees blowing up at him on the sidelines last week), and now coach Sean Payton has told him he needs to step up, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

Our View:Shockey has been an enormous disappointment for the Saints and fantasy owners this year. He has 30 catches, but for only 262 yards and no touchdowns. He's barely a No. 2 TE at the moment.
November 16, 2008
Pro Football Weekly reports the Saints are frustrated with tight end Jeremy Shockey and feel that backup Billy Miller is better in the two-minute offense.

Our View:This is more bad news for Shockey owners, if his owners hadn't seen enough bad news already this season.
November 13, 2008
Jeremy Shockey is still looking for his place in the high powered Saints offense, according to the Times Picayune. "I know it's been tough on him, because he's used to being able to get a lot of playing time, make a lot of plays and get the ball thrown to him a lot and all those things, " Saints quarterback Drew Brees said. "Just at this point, it hasn't happened yet, really because of being banged up in a number of ways."

Our View:Shockey has 24 receptions for 223 yards, but he has failed to reach the end zone. Shockey needs to keep his mouth closed and continue to work hard as he nears full health. If he gets open, there is no doubt that Brees will get him the ball.
November 10, 2008
Updating an earlier report, Jeremy Shockey is considered day-to-day with right ankle swelling and soreness, according to NFL.com.

Our View:Shockey has failed to stay healthy, and has been a disappointment for the Saints and fantasy owners, as he only mustered 24 receptions with no touchdowns over six games.
November 10, 2008
Jeremy Shockey's injured right ankle was swollen with fluid in the locker room following Sunday's loss at Atlanta, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:The Saints are yet to update his status. He is still yet to score his first touchdown as a member of the Saints over six games.
November 9, 2008
Tight end Jeremy Shockey sustained a sprained ankle in the Week 10 loss to Atlanta, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:The extent of the injury is unknown at the current time.
November 7, 2008
Jeremy Shockey fully practiced for the third straight day Friday and will start in Week 10 at Atlanta, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. He is reportedly nearing full health following his recovery from a sports hernia.

Our View:He is yet to score his first touchdown as a member of the Saints over five games, but merits fantasy consideration in a potential shootout with the Falcons.
November 6, 2008
Jeremy Shockey fully practiced for the second straight day Thursday, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:He should start in Week 10 at Atlanta, but it remains to be seen how much playing time he will handle.
November 6, 2008
Jeremy Shockey fully practiced Wednesday and feels he is getting closer to 100 percent following his recovery from sports hernia, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:This is encouraging news, but it remains to be seen how much playing time he will handle this weekend at Atlanta. He is yet to score his first touchdown as a member of the Saints over five outings.
November 5, 2008
According to the Biloxi Sun-Herald, tight end Jeremy Shockey practiced on Wednesday and should be ready to play in Week 10.

Our View:With Shockey practicing it should be ok to put him back in all fantasy lineups. In five games this year the tight end has 22 receptions.
October 24, 2008
Jeremy Shockey is listed as probable for Sunday's contest against San Diego, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:He practiced Thursday and Friday, but remains a risky fantasy option as he is still experiencing discomfort following his sports hernia surgery.
October 23, 2008
Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey was limited in the team's practice on Thursday in London, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:Shockey did not practice on Wednesday, so him getting some reps in Thursday is a positive sign, but it is still unknown if he will play against the Chargers.
October 22, 2008
Jeremy Shockey missed Wednesday's practice, according to ProFootballTalk.com. He played last week against Carolina, but experienced pain and is still not recovered from his sports hernia surgery.

Our View:We will keep you posted on his status for Week 8 against San Diego. He is yet to score a touchdown as a member of the Saints over four games played.
October 20, 2008
Jeremy Shockey will have further tests today in London to see if he suffered a serious setback or just felt scar tissue breaking up during Sunday's loss to Carolina, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:Shockey was playing in his first game since undergoing sports hernia surgery. We will keep you posted on his status for Week 8 against San Diego.
October 19, 2008
Tight end Jeremy Shockey was in pain following the team's blowout loss to the Panthers, and may miss Week 8, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:Shockey was feeling pain in the area he had surgery for a sports hernia a few weeks ago. However, it is possible it's due to scar tissue and not a new injury.
October 19, 2008
Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey caught five passes for 50 yards, but also lost a fumble in the team's loss to the Panthers.

Our View:It was Shockey's first action in some time, and the fact he had five catches bodes well for his fantasy value in the future.
October 19, 2008
Tight end Jeremy Shockey will start for the team today, according to Adam Schefter of the NFL Network.

Our View:There was some speculation that Mark Campbell would get the nod over Shockey, but that appears to be false.
October 19, 2008
FOX Sports indicates there is a "good chance" that Mark Campbell will start over Jeremy Shockey at tight end today.

Our View:Even if he doesn't start, he should still play in the game, and is worth penciling into lineups, unless of course you have a better option at the position.
October 17, 2008
The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that tight end Jeremy Shockey has been upgraded to probable for Sunday's game against Carolina. He had missed the previous three games with a sports hernia.

Our View:Drew Brees has been excellent this season and Shockey's return should only help the Saints' passing attack. Expect Shockey to start producing soon.
October 15, 2008
Jeremy Shockey (sports hernia) is being called a "safe bet to return" for this week's matchup with the Panthers after practicing on a limited basis on Wednesday, according to The Times-Picayune.

Our View:This is the paper talking and not a quote from the player or a coach, but it is clear from the tone of the report that most believe that Shockey will be on the field this weekend. However, don't discount that the paper predicted that Marques Colston would play last weekend and he didn't.
October 15, 2008
Jeremy Shockey, who is recovering from a sports hernia, practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:Shockey should be a safe bet to return this weekend against Carolina, but the big test for him will be how quickly he recovers from the increased workload. Coach Sean Payton noted that he looked good today.
October 13, 2008
Jeremy Shockey, who is recovering from a sports hernia, has a shot to return to the Saints' lineup in Week 7, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:This is encouraging news, but coach Sean Payton said he needs to see how Shockey looks in practice on Wednesday, and how quickly he bounces back on Thursday. Last week, Shockey practiced on Wednesday, but the soreness prevented him from testing the injury again.
October 12, 2008
Saints inactives: TE Jeremy Shockey, WR Marques Colston, QB Joey Harrington, CB Aaron Glenn, SS Kevn Kaesviharn, WR David Patten, DT Antwan Lake and DT Sedrick Ellis.

Our View:Marques Colston and David Patten are both inactive leaving Devery Henderson and Lance Moore to start. Robert Meachem will also receive additional playing time in the slot.
October 10, 2008
The return of tight end Jeremy Shockey to the Saints this week does not look like it is going to happen, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:Shockey did not practice on Friday, as he is just two weeks removed from sports hernia surgery. Look for him to have a much better chance of playing Week 7.
October 8, 2008
Jeremy Shockey returned to practice on Wednesday. The New Orleans Times-Picayune says he should still be considered questionable for Sunday's game against Oakland, but coach Sean Payton said he was more optimistic than earlier in the week.

Our View:It's certainly looking up for Shockey and we should have a better idea of his availability by Friday. If he can not go this week, he seems a lock to play in Week 7.
September 26, 2008
Updating an earlier report, Jeremy Shockey's surgery went so well that the team is hopeful he will be able to return for Week 6, according to The Times-Picayune.

Our View:HC Sean Payton stated that Shockey already feels "comfortable" as the medical procedure wasn't as extensive as previously believed, so there appears to be real hope that Shockey will be available available for the team's home game against the Raiders.
September 26, 2008
Jeremy Shockey underwent successful surgery on his injured groin, and apparently the injury itself was not as extensive as first thought, according to The Times-Picayune. "They called it a sports hernia because it was in that general area," said Shockey. "But there was no protrusion, so it was even better than they thought."

Our View:We don't yet know if that means that Shockey will return sooner than expected, but it sure seems that we could be looking at a time frame that is closer to the low end of the estimate (three) than the long (six).
September 22, 2008
Jeremy Shockey will miss 3-6 weeks after undergoing sports hernia surgery at some point this week, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:The Saints' aerial attack loses another key weapon, as Marques Colston is already out with a thumb injury. Veteran David Patten is dealing with a strained groin as well. Billy Miller will be the acting starter, and will share reps at tight end with Mark Campbell.
September 4, 2008
Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey was left off the team's injury report, and he should be ready to play Week 1, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:Shockey and the Saints were being cautious after he spent the offseason rehabbing his broken leg, so he did not play in either of the team's final two exhibition games. He could be a very solid addition to a fantasy team at tight end in Sean Payton's offense.
August 28, 2008
Jeremy Shockey was once again left on the sidelines for the Saints on Thursday night, according to the Times-Picayune. Marques Colston was also held out of the lineup.

Our View:No official word has been given as to why the decision was made, but the story speculates that the team is simply being cautious with Shockey in his return from his broken leg.
August 22, 2008
Jeremy Shockey has went through eight months of rehab (fractured left fibula) and looks forward to making his Saints' preseason debut on Saturday against the Bengals, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. He said, "I feel pretty good about the week. I'm not 100 percent or anything, but there has been progress made. There are more than two weeks left to the start of the regular season, and without a doubt I'll be 100 percent when the real games start. I don't want to have a setback. I don't want to do something stupid and hurt something else by pushing it too hard."

Our View:He is expected to play around one quarter against Cincinnati. It is encouraging that he feels confident he will be 100 percent for Week 1. The Saints have one of the most explosive aerial attacks in the NFL, and Shockey would be in position to post strong numbers if he stays intact for a full 16 games.
August 19, 2008
Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey went through practice on Monday with no problems and will likely play in the team's preseason contest on Saturday against the Bengals, according to Sporting News Today.

Our View:Shockey has been out with a hamstring problem, but it looks like he will be ready to go when the season starts. He should be someone fantasy owners target to be their tight end, and could put up big numbers in coach Sean Payton's offense.
August 15, 2008
Jeremy Shockey did not participate in Thursday's scrimmage against the Texans as he is dealing with a hamstring injury, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View:He isn't expected to play Saturday against Houston. He is also trying to bounce back from a broken left leg this season. If healthy, Shockey would rank as a No. 1 fantasy tight end in the Saints' explosive offense.
July 23, 2008
Jeremy Shockey passed his physical in New Orleans and is officially a member of the Saints, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View:Shockey hauled in a career-high 74 receptions in 2002, and could challenge a new high with the Saints if he can stay healthy, when you consider the lack of solid targets in the receiving corps beyond Marques Colston.
July 22, 2008
In a weird and tangled turn of events, it now appears the Saints may be in line to lose a 1st-round draft pick, rather than the 2nd rounder they believe they have sent to the Giants, in exchange for tight end Jeremy Shockey , according to ProFootballTalk.com.

Our View:Under the trade between the Jets and the Saints that brought linebacker Jonathan Vilma to 'Nawlins, the Saints will be required to surrender a 2nd-round draft pick if Vilma participates in 85 percent of the defensive snaps this season, and if the Saints sign Vilma to a contract extension. Per Tom Rock of Newsday, the Giants would get the Saints’ first-round pick if the Jets get the second-rounder. If the Giants get the first-round pick, the Saints’ fifth-rounder falls out of the Shockey deal.
July 21, 2008
The New York Giants have agreed to trade their disgruntled tight end to the New Orleans Saints for a second- and fifth-round pick, according to FOXSports.com. The deal is pending league approval, and Shockey must also pass a physical.

Our View:If this trade gets finalized, it would have a major effect in the ADP of several players. Shockey would receive a bump in his ranking, Kevin Boss would receive a major upgrade, and Eric Johnson takes a negative hit to his draft value. Stay tuned.
July 20, 2008
The Giants are three days away from opening training camp and the questions around tight end Jeremy Shockey have yet to be answered, and today's comments from GM Jerry Reese leave no answers to be found, according to the New York Daily News. Reese would not say if he expects his enigmatic tight end to report to camp at the University at Albany with the rest of his teammates on Thursday morning, and he appeared to leave open the possibility that Shockey won't be part of the Giants at all with these comments, stating, "I expect we'll have 53 players when we play the Redskins (on Sept. 4) who want to be here, and are happy to be here, ready to play as a team, ready to defend the title. That's what I expect," Reese said. "If that includes Jeremy, that would be great."

Our View:Shockey, who told many people inside and outside of the NFL this offseason that he wanted out of New York, showed up for minicamp in June, but refused to stand on the sidelines with the rest of his injured teammates. Then he reportedly got into a shouting match with Reese. No one seems sure whether he'll show up on Thursday or how much trouble he'll cause if he does. A trade, though highly unlikely, apparently hasn't been ruled out.
June 28, 2008
It appears there are movers and shakers in the NFL that believe the current picture being presented by the Giants, stating tight end Jeremy Shockey is no longer involved in trade talks, fails to match reality, according to NFL.com.

Our View:In a report filed by Thomas George, unnamed NFL sources with other teams note there are more than a few franchises tracking the situation as beliefs that Shockey's approach to the game no longer fits into the team-first emotion long preached by coach Tom Coughlin but now carrying weight with players after a Super Bowl victory. One source notes there are teams that will continue to make offers and that a deal during training camp still seems like a plausible scenario.
June 26, 2008
Jeremy Shockey will remain with the Giants according to an unnamed "source", according to the Bergen Record. The "source" reported that the team has given up its attempts to trade Shockey and that he will remain with the team.

Our View:In a soap opera that only New York could produce, this situation seems to have more twists than Days of Our Lives, but for now it appears that Shockey will remain a target for Eli Manning.
June 25, 2008
Thirty minutes into his new television gig with Fox, Michael Strahan told Newsday he thinks the New York Giants should dump unhappy tight end Jeremy Shockey. "He doesn't want to play here; that's obvious with everything that's going on," Strahan said, "I don't think you gain much by keeping a guy around. Regardless of how well he plays for you, there's always that tension, and that's one thing you can't have if you're expected to go back and repeat."

Our View:Those are the types of sound bites that Fox will be looking for from Strahan, who signed a four-year deal believed to be worth about $2.3 million a year after fielding offers from other networks.
June 25, 2008
There are quiet rumors circulating that teams are still asking about tight end Jeremy Shockey's availability, and although Pro Football Weekly hears the team would like to get its star tight end healthy and into camp, the rift between player and team isn’t narrowing.

Our View:Shockey is upset with what he perceives to be a lack of respect from the New York Giants in the form of misinformation about his situation. And there are some insiders who believe the rift has gone past the point where he can be of benefit from the team. That said, it’s likely that nothing will happen in terms of a trade before the Giants report to training camp.
June 13, 2008
According to a report in The Bergen Record, the Giants tight end got into a shouting match with GM Jerry Reese at some point during the teams' three-day minicamp. It apparently happened earlier this week. Giants beat writer Ralph Vacchiano wrote in his Daily News blog that it might be why Jeremy Shockey’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, suddenly appeared in the parking lot on Friday and said, We’re just going to have to take it one day at a time," commenting on the relationship between his client and the New York front office.

Our View:If Shockey is trying to "shock" the Giants into trading him it's probably a good idea that the organization start listening.
June 11, 2008
Jeremy Shockey was unable to take the field at practice on Wednesday due to his injured ankle, according to the New York Star Ledger.

Our View:Before rumors start to swell, we just wanted to make sure that we reported Shockey didn't practice because of his injury and not because of a holdout or any kind of trade demands.
June 11, 2008
Jeremy Shockey reported to the New York Giants mandatory mini-camp today, according to Newsday NFL writer Bob Glauber.

Our View:There were some conflicting rumors as to whether Shockey would report or not, so this report alleviates those concerns. Shockey will not be participating in team drills, as his ankle injury from last year isn’t sufficiently healed.
June 9, 2008
Jeremy Shockey will not be asked to participate much if he reports to manadatory mini-camps, according to the NY Post. He is recovering from leg and ankle surgery.

Our View:The three-day mini-camp begins on Wednesday. Shockey is bitter that the Giants did not allow him to watch Super Bowl XLII from the sidelines, as the team at the time stated that would be an unsafe vantage point for a player on crutches. He did mention that he misses his team-mates, and will honor his contractual obligation.
June 8, 2008
Updating an earlier report, it appears differing views are coming forth regarding comments made by Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey , according to ProFootballTalk.com.

Our View:Talk reports the New York Post is stating Shockey was strong in his assertions that he will be participating in the team's upcoming minicamp, claiming his teammates are his priority. Meanwhile ESPN is reporting Shockey says he has no idea if he will attend or not. We will see on Wednesday as minicamp starts.
June 8, 2008
Jeremy Shockey hinted Saturday that he might not attend the Giants' mandatory minicamp, which begins Wednesday, according to ESPN.com. "Who knows? I might go to see my mother in Texas. I have no idea," Shockey said. The tight end has been lobbying for a trade over the offseason and is coming back from a broken leg. "Obviously. I'm not 100 percent and if I do show to minicamp, it's going to be, I wouldn't imagine me doing much, just getting treatment on my leg," Shockey said.

Our View:It would probably be in both parties' interest if Shockey were dealt, but no trade appears on the horizon. We're betting that he does show up for minicamp, just so he can avoid being fined.
June 4, 2008
The New York Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey will be attending the team's mandatory minicamp next week, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View:Shockey spent this offseason publicly lobbying for a trade and thought he would be wearing the jersey of the New Orleans Saints at this time, but he is not, and now he reports his planned arrival for team practices next week. Shockey will be in New York for promotional appearances on Saturday. Team sources have commented on Shockey, using apparent suggestions that he might still be traded by noting Shockey is the team's starting tight end "right now."
June 3, 2008
Jeremy Shockey is expected to report to the team, according to Newsday. He plans to show up for next week's minicamp from June 11-13.

Our View:Shockey was unhappy with his contract and wanted to be dealt, but he would be subject to fines if he misses the mandatory minicamp. This is a good sign that he will remain with the Giants, but he is yet to make a statement in that regard.
May 30, 2008
The Giants mandatory mini-camp on June 11-13 will say a lot about Jeremy Shockey commitment this season. Up until now, Shockey has stayed away from the offseason workout program, as he prefers to work out in Miami.

Our View:This is the M.O for most of the Miami alum, but this season is different. The trade talks surrounding the Giants tight end could be snuffed if he would attend the "supposed" mandatory workouts.
May 21, 2008
Tight end coach Mike Pope said he heard that Jeremy Shockey is coming along well as he recovers from a broken leg, according to the Star Ledger. He is running in the sand pits in Miami to strengthen his legs. Pope added, "He gets hurt, but he's a quick healer because he pushes himself."

Our View:Jeremy Shockey is still an elite tight end, and could generate strong numbers this season if he stays in New York and can also stay on the field. Eli Manning broke out down the stretch last season, and the Giants' aerial attack was unstoppable.
May 20, 2008
Eli Manning expects Jeremy Shockey to return to the Giants this season, according to FanNation.com. Manning said, "I've been in touch with Jeremy. We've just gotta get everybody back."

Our View:Kevin Boss was a key contributor during the Giants' magical Super Bowl run last season, and he would still be involved if Shockey remains in New York. Shockey is recovering from a broken ankle.
May 16, 2008
Jeremy Shockey may still end up being moved this off-season but it won't be to the New Orleans Saints, according to North Jersey.com. “It’s no secret we had some discussions with them and we just couldn’t come to a conclusion on the right compensation,” Saints GM Mickey Loomis said.

Our View:Kevin Boss dynasty owners are still hoping something will happen with Shockey, but given his injury history it seems less than likely that a deal can be worked out for Shockey because when he is on the field he is productive thereby necessitating a larger haul in a trade than most team's will not be likely offer.
May 11, 2008
Offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride is the latest person to weigh in on the Jeremy Shockey situation. The two talked recently. "It’s so nebulous right now, you just have no idea what’s going to happen," Gilbride tells the New York Daily News. "Right now he’s on our team. We’re planning on him being there. He’ll be one of the guys that we’ll look to feature and one of the guys that we’ll look to depend on." Gilbride refused to pass along what Shockey said about the situation.

Our View:Gilbride didn't really offer up anything beyond what we already know about the trade talks and Shockey's potential feelings. For now, fantasy owners need to rank Shockey as if he'll be back in blue.
May 9, 2008
Newsday NFL writer Bob Glauber reported on ESPN this morning that the only way the New York Giants would trade tight end Jeremy Shockey is if they received an offer that “knocked their socks off”.

Our View:Glauber said the organization originally wanted in excess of a second rounder for Shockey, and now that the draft has concluded, the price would probably rise. Reading between the lines it sounds like the Giants want a second round pick and a player or a first round pick, which at this stage of the offseason appears unlikely. The New Orleans Saints continue to be the only team interested in Shockey.
May 5, 2008
League sources indicate the New Orleans Saints' pursuit of New York tight end Jeremy Shockey did not end when a draft-day deal between the clubs could not be reached, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Head coach Sean Payton believes Shockey is a perfect fit for the Saints' offense, and he still desperately wants the player to be wearing a black-and-gold uniform this season.

Our View:The NFL trading deadline is Oct. 16, so this story could hang around for a while.
May 1, 2008
Jeremy Shockey did not attend the Giants' visit to the White House on Wednesday, according to the Newark Star Ledger. Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora also were not in attendance.

Our View:It remains to be seen if the Giants will still be able to deal Shockey after the draft. The team actually played better during their magical Super Bowl run with rookie Kevin Boss as their starter.
April 27, 2008
We have completed nearly five rounds of this year's NFL Draft, and TE Jeremy Shockey remains with the New York Giants, though the Saints report it is not due to their lack of effort, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:Unnamed sources in the New Orleans organization have told John Clayton of ESPN that a deal the team felt was solidified entering the draft was compromised when the Giants called the Saints and stated they would no longer be accepting anything less than 2nd-round draft pick in exchange for the Pro-Bowl tight end. Sources indicate the Saints heavily debated that decision but the reluctance to jump has led to delays in what was once believed to be a done deal. ESPN reports the teams are still interested in getting the trade completed and the Giants have completed a full physical of Shockey to offer to the Saints to progress those negotiations along as quickly as possible, but at this point an agreement has yet to be reached and team officials for both franchises are unwilling to discuss the matter (at least with a name attached to any statements).
April 26, 2008
There is a good chance that Jeremy Shockey will be dealt today, according to FanNation. The Saints remain the top suitor, but the Falcons are also believed to be interested, among others.

Our View:The Giants were very pleased with the performance of tight end Kevin Boss last season, and he was a key contributor during their magical run to the title. Shockey has a poor track record with durability as well.
April 25, 2008
The New Orleans Saints will push to see if they can get New York Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey, but they won't be willing to part with safety Roman Harper to make the deal work, according to ESPN.

Our View:The Giants reportedly aren’t shopping the disgruntled tight end, but have been listening to offers. Earlier in the offseason the Saints offered a second round pick, and the Giants countered by adding Harper into the deal. The Saints have balked on that deal, but it’s not out of the question for the two franchises to find some middle ground in these trade talks. Stay tuned.
April 24, 2008
The Seattle Seahawks have denied having any interest in acquiring New York Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Our View:Yesterday, the New York Daily News reported that the Seahawks were among the teams interested in the disgruntled tight end, but the organization plans to address the position in the NFL draft this weekend. Last year’s starter, Marcus Pollard, recently signed with New England and the team signed Jeb Putzier, who currently occupies the top rung on the tight end depth chart.
April 23, 2008
The New Orleans Saints have already expressed their interest in Jeremy Shockey and now the Seattle Seahawks and possibly the Atlanta Falcons are interested in working a trade to acquire the disgruntled tight end, according to the New York Daily News. Per media reports the Giants aren't actively trying to trade Shockey, but they are listening to offers and have discussed the possibility.

Our View:Shockey has been telling friends he wants to go to the Saints, where he would be reunited with head coach Sean Payton - and play in a more tight end friendly offense.
April 21, 2008
The New Orleans Saints and are still hot for the tight end Jeremy Shockey, according to SI.com.

Our View:Per Peter King, the deal won’t get done if New York insists on receiving safety Roman Harper plus the Saints’ second-round pick (40th overall). If the Giants were willing to settle for Harper and a sixth-round pick for Shockey, or a second- and sixth-rounder for him, then a trade could possibly get consummated.
April 19, 2008
Jeremy Shockey , the talented-but-aggravating Pro Bowl tight end for the New York Giants, has been involved in tumultuous dealings with his team since suffering a broken fibula in a game versus the Washington Redskins last season, and now reports have surfaced that the brash target may be seeking a trade, according to Newark Star-Ledger.

Our View:According to an unnamed source, Shockey approached Giants' coaching and management last season before the playoffs had begun and stated he wanted a changed role in the offense or a trade to another team, and that if neither demand was met, he would sit out this upcoming season. It appears Shockey is none too happy with the role he is given under coach Tom Coughlin, an offensive scheme that asks Shockey to work as a blocker much more often than as a receiver. The Star-Ledger also notes New Orleans coach Sean Payton, the former offensive coordinator for the Giants who tutored Shockey during his rookie season, has contacted the team about potential trade discussions. Shockey is a potent offensive weapon, and while his talents as a blocker are a necessary evil to do the job, it would make sense to give him the ball more often than Coughlin seems willing to offer. We will have to wait and see if Shockey holds true to his threat, but it appears this story could grow worse before it gets better.
April 18, 2008
Jeremy Shockey's agent Drew Rosenhaus was on ESPN's NFL LIVE on Friday, and here is a quote from the agent on whether or not Shockey wants to remain in NY, this according to the New York Star Ledger. "...I prefer to do my business with a team off camera. I appreciate you guys inviting me on, but in terms of Jeremy's feelings as relating to the Giants, that's something that we've communicated to the Giants and the ball's going to be in their court."

Our View:Though there is no clear cut answer to whether or not Shockey will remain with the Giants, Rosenhaus was clear with one thing, and that is that Shockey's ankle is 100% and that he has been cleared by doctors to return to full practice.

According to the New York Daily News, Jeremy Shockey has told friends he'd be fine with a trade to the Saints. Sources say at least two teams have contacted the Giants about the tight end.

Our View:We hear Drew Brees has worked with a pretty good pass-catching tight end in his past (Antonio Gates), and Sean Payton was a member of the Giants staff when Shockey was a rookie. We imagine Shockey would fit in immediately with the Saints.

Team's have contacted the Giants about disgruntled TE Jeremy Shockey, but that doesn't mean the club is looking to move him, this according to the AP. "Right now all I can say on Jeremy Shockey is that he is our starting tight end,” GM Jerry Reese said.

Our View:Shockey will certainly be a hot commodity if the Giants choose to actively shop him, and given his injury history and expressed displeasure with the team, there seems to be a chance that he could end up being moved.

TE Jeremy Shockey has been absent from the Giants’ offseason workouts thus far and rumors persist that a move out of New York is in the works, including a potential trade to New Orleans, according to the Newark (NJ) Star-Ledger. Shockey has been working to return from a leg injury that kept him out of playoff action last season, and as many fans know, his decision to avoid workouts in New York is nothing new (like many alum, Shockey prefers to spend his time with former teammates at the University of Miami-FL). However, QB Eli Manning has told reporters he has spoken with Shockey and that he hopes one of his favorite targets returns. “I hope he understands we would like him back,” said Manning. “He’s a tremendous player. He helps us out and helps out our offense when he’s out there.”

Our View:It’s nice of Manning to note Shockey’s obvious skills, but do not believe the team is not working to dump this guy off. They found noteworthy success on the field AFTER Shockey was lost to injury, and in his absence, the team may feel they stumbled upon an underrated option in Kevin Boss, a young player who added substantial effort to the cause in last year’s run to the Lombardi Trophy. This could result in one of the more intriguing stories of the offseason, and with the draft fast approaching, a potential trade could be forthcoming sooner rather than later.

Jeremy Shockey isn't happy with the way he is being deployed in the Giants offense and he isn't afraid to admit it, that is if you listen to an unnamed friend of his, this according to the NY Daily News. Shockey is not an elite option at TE, but he is right there in the second tier below the top pass catchers. Problem is he has always been limited by injuries and his own big mouth, but this offseason could go a long way to determining his future in New York.

General manager Jerry Reese, head coach Tom Coughlin and position coach Mike Pope are all in agreement that tight end Jeremy Shockey will be a member of the New York Giants in 2008, according to USA Today. Shockey, who missed the final three games of the 2007 season as well as the improbable four game run to victory in Super Bowl XLII, is said to have healed well from the fractured fibula and will be ready to work out soon. Whether he agrees to spend time with the team in New Jersey during the offseason-conditioning program or continue his practice of working out independently in South Florida remains to be seen. But the success the team experienced without him for the final seven games should serve to present him with a new outlook.

Yesterday the Newark Star-Ledger reported that the New Orleans Saints had offered a 2008 second round draft pick and safety Roman Harper to the New York Giants for tight end Jeremy Shockey. Now there is a contradictory story circulating that the Giants actually made the offer to the Saints, and New Orleans refused to make the deal, according to Pro Football Talk. Reading between the lines it appears that the Giants are at least attempting to move Shockey, which could make for some interesting trade possibilities during the NFL draft. Stay tuned.

The New Orleans Saints reportedly offered the New York Giants their 2008 second round draft pick (No. 40) and safety Roman Harper for tight end Jeremy Shockey, according to the Newark Star-Ledger. The Giants turned down the offer and the talks have died down since then, but according to SI.com’s Peter King, the Saints are not done trying to acquire Shockey. Stay tuned.

The Giants have no intention of trading Jeremy Shockey this offseason, according to a source cited by the New York Daily News. The Saints were one of several teams that recently contacted the club about the availability of the tight end, but all were rebuffed. Shockey is expected to be recovered from his broken leg and ready to start for the Giants next season.

As expected, Jeremy Shockey required surgery to repair his broken fibula, but he's far enough along in his recovery that he's ditched his walking boot, according to the New York Daily News. He's supposed to be able to fully take part in his offseason workouts and should be fine when next season begins.

Jeremy Shockey will be the Giants stating TE next year, that is according to a report in Newsday. According to the report, Giants GM Jeremy Shockey said that Shockey "is our starting tight end." Shockey is still rehabbing his broken leg, and as a result there would likely be little value in trading him at this point even if the team wanted to. It certainly appears that Shockey will be the Giants starter next year with Kevin Boss serving as his backup.

Jeremy Shockey, who is due $1.925 million next season, is rumored to be looking for more money, according to the New York Daily News. Since the Giants won the Super Bowl with Shockey on the sidelines, he doesn't have much bargaining power even if he remains one of the NFL's best pass-catching tight ends.
February 9, 2008
Jeremy Shockey might just be on the trading block after the play of rookie TE Kevin Boss impressed the Giants brass. Shockey's salary will only count $3.5 million dollars against the cap next season, and if the team can get a second round pick in exchange for Shockey they might consider moving the oft injured TE. Shockey has hauled in at least 57 passes in each of the past four season's despite bumps and bruises though he has been held to under 650-yards in each of the past two seasons. Sports Illustrated.
