Newsbreakers
November 30, 2008
Wide receiver Antonio Bryant caught three passes for 63 yards and a touchdown in the Week 13 win over the Saints.

Our View:Bryant remains the go-to receiver for the Bucs, although this was only his third score on the season. Fantasy owners can look to use him against weaker opponents.
November 2, 2008
Antonio Bryant burned the Chiefs' secondary for 115 yards and a score on eight receptions in Sunday's 30-27 win.

Our View:Bryant has built a solid chemistry with quarterback Jeff Garcia, as he has topped 100 receiving yards in two of his last three outings. He has a shot to reach 1,000 yards for the second time in his career this season.
October 21, 2008
Antonio Bryant has performed very well this season and could keep his starting gig at split end even when Joey Galloway returns, according to the Tampa Tribune. Coach Jon Gruden said, "I'm not going to move him at this point in time."

Our View:Bryant has contributed 31 receptions for 406 yards over seven games, topping 100 yards twice. He should remain a favorable fantasy option as a No. 3 receiver, and will likely see less double teams when Galloway returns to the field.
October 19, 2008
Antonio Bryant had six catches for 115 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 20-10 win over the Seahawks.

Our View:This was Bryant's second 100 yard receiving game this year and his first TD reception. With Joey Galloway out of the lineup Bryant has become the number one option.
September 21, 2008
Antonio Bryant compiled 10 receptions for 138 yards in the Buccaneers Week 3 win over Chicago.

Our View:With go-to guy Joey Galloway out of the lineup, Bryant stepped up to the plate, and notched a lights out performance. Galloway has been limited by injuries for the past few months, so Bryant could continue to shine in the passing game.
September 5, 2008
Antonio Bryant is listed as questionable on the Bucs injury report because of a bad knee. If healthy, expect him to start.

Our View:Joey Galloway and Michael Clayton are also questionable. Don't count on getting much production from the Bucs passing attack this week against the Saints.
September 3, 2008
Antonio Bryant has nailed down a starting spot at receiver with the Buccaneers, according to the St. Petersburg Times. He will start opposite Joey Galloway.

Our View:Bryant is an intriguing player to consider as a fantasy reserve, as the Buccaneers lack strong options at receiver beyond the aging Galloway, and Bryant racked up 1,009 receiving yards with the Browns back in 2005.
August 13, 2008
Antonio Bryant is standing out in Buccaneers' camp, according to the St. Petersburg Times. Coach Jon Gruden said, "Antonio Bryant is the one guy I think from a talent standpoint, he's picking it up. We need more guys to do that."

Our View:Bryant has a legit shot to nail down the starting job opposite Joey Galloway, and is an intriguing fantasy prospect for 2008, namely as he racked up 1,009 receiving yards with Cleveland back in 2005.
August 10, 2008
Antonio Bryant fared well in Saturday's preseason game against Miami, according to the St. Petersburg Times. He displayed toughness as he hauled in three difficult catches in traffic. Bryant said, "The hard part is timing and consistency. Guys have to know you. You don't run your routes exactly like you do on paper. But I think it felt good to get a live look again."

Our View:Maurice Stovall started the game in place of Joey Galloway, who sat out due to his groin injury. Bryant made a solid debut with the Buccaneers after being out of football in 2007, and he ranks as a dark-horse as a fantasy receiver for 2008.
August 4, 2008
Antonio Bryant missed Sunday's practice due to a swollen right knee, according to the Orlando Sentinel. He is considered day-to-day.

Our View:Bryant has previously missed some practice time in camp due to cramps from dehydration. His ailments could hinder his bid for the number two role opposite Joey Galloway. He is competing with Ike Hilliard and Michael Clayton for the job.
July 27, 2008
Antonio Bryant left Sunday's practice early due to cramps from dehydration, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

Our View:Bryant is viewed as a dark-horse with the team, as he racked up 1,009 yards with Cleveland in 2006. He should be fine after getting some rest, and is expected to compete with Ike Hilliard and Michael Clayton for the number two role at receiver alongside Joey Galloway.

Team pro personnel executive Doug Williams has commented that Antonio Bryant has looked like one of the Buccaneers' top two or three receivers during the off-season, according to the Tampa Tribune. Williams added, "He's got a great passion for the game, and he really missed it. You can see that in him. He's hungry and he's showing us that he really wants to be here and be a part of this team."

Our View:Bryant was out of football in 2007, after a run-in with Mike Nolan in San Francisco and a DUI arrest that tarnished his rep, but Bryant is still only 27-years old and had first-round talent. He could beat out Ike Hilliard and Michael Clayton for the starting spot opposite Joey Galloway, and is worth keeping tabs on through training camp.

Head coach Jon Gruden is very intrigued with troubled receiver Antonio Bryant, according to the St. Petersburg Times. "This kid, Antonio Bryant, if we can get him going, he can be very good," Gruden said. "When he plays, he plays good. Now, can we get him going and sustain it?" Bryant has talent evidenced by the fact that he was a 1,000-yard receiver as recently as 2005, when he posted 69 receptions, 1,009 yards and four scores with the Cleveland Browns. On the dark side, he was out of the NFL in 2007, and was arrested in 2006 on DUI charges, which ultimately led to a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. He has also had dustups with coaches Bill Parcells in Dallas and Mike Nolan in San Francisco. Bottom line… he was a cheap signing, who will have to work hard for every morsel of playing time in Tampa Bay.

Antonio Bryant signed a one-year contract with Tampa Bay worth the veteran minimum of $605,000, according to the Tampa Tribune. Bryant’s career has been marred by run-ins with his coaches, failed drug tests and a league suspension that cost him the last two games of the 2006 season. That suspension would have cost Bryant the first two games of 2007 as well, but the San Francisco 49ers, his third team in six years, cut him last March. Maybe the season long sabbatical will have a positive effect on Bryant’s attitude. If not, this contract is structured so that it’s very easy to cut him at some point during the offseason.

Antonio Bryant signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Bucs on Monday though no terms have yet been announced, this according to AP. Bryant sat out the 2007 season, so it's questionable just how much he has left at this point though he is still just 28-years of age. Given the team's lack of depth at WR, Bryant could certainly figure into the mix this coming season, though he will be forced to sit out the first two games of the year for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
March 3, 2008
There have been rumblings that San Francisco might consider bringing back WR Antonio Bryant, according to Pro Football Weekly. The report states that Bryant would have to show he can mentally handle being in the league again, along with mending fences with quarterback Alex Smith, who he didn’t get along with. Bryant, who has had a volatile career both on and off the field, was out of the league last year, after being released by the organization prior to the 2007 season.
January 7, 2008
Antonio Bryant disputes an internet report that claimed he is likely to retire. “I am not retiring,” Bryant told the Detroit Free Press. “I’ll be playing somewhere next year, hopefully in Detroit, but I don’t know.” Bryant has two years remaining on his contract.

Our View:There are rumblings that the Lions intend to cut Bryant, but it’s obvious that he wants to play again next season. Damn you, internet.
