Sheldon Brown suffered a stinger against Washington Sunday and briefly left the game, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Our View:It is a good sign he was able to finish the game, but if he is forced to miss any time, former Pro Bowler Lito Sheppard will be ready to step into his starting spot, hence keeping the Eagles' secondary strong at the position.

Sheldon Brown will face competition for his starting job this summer. Defensive coordinator Jim Johnson told the Philadelphia Daily News that William James will have a shot to win the starting spot. "William is a guy who can start," Johnson said. "When he played last year, he played well."

The Eagles signed Sheldon Brown to a six-year contract extension on Thurday, according to the AP. "It's a good thing for not only myself but my family," Brown said. "The most important part is that I'm glad the Eagles believe in me. Now I'm more anxious to prove that I can be worthy of the signing."
