Larry Foote practiced Monday, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. It marked his first practice since injuring his knee in an August 23 preseason game. He expects to play in Week 1, and said, "I took that brace off, so it felt good. The next step is with the pounding and see how my knee reacts to that. But for the most part, it feels good."

Our View:This is encouraging news for Foote, as he cannot afford to miss a game with Lawrence Timmons pushing him for playing time at inside linebacker.

Steelers linebacker Larry Foote said he will be ready to go Week 1, and that his injured knee is not serious, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:Foote is an essential part of the Steelers defense, and made 81 tackles, along with 3.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and one interception last season.

Pittsburgh linebacker Larry Foote will miss the Steelers final preseason game and may be out Week 1 with a knee ailment, according to the Beaver County Times.

Our View:Foote and Lawrence Timmons are fighting for the job at outside linebacker, and this will give Timmons an opportunity to snag the job.
August 17, 2008
Larry Foote is being pushed by Lawrence Timmons at right inside linebacker, but the Pittsburgh Tribune Review believes Foote remains the favorite for the job.

Our View:The seventh-year vet worked with the first-team base defense Saturday. Timmons does have more upside than Foote, however, namely as a pass-rusher, and Foote will be hard-pressed to hold off Timmons over the long course of the season.
June 11, 2008
Since 1991, only one of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ first-round draft choices did not become a regular starter by at least his second season, which leads linebacker Larry Foote to believe second-year linebacker Lawrence Timmons will start in his place in 2008, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I don't think its competition," Foote said after another spring practice. "I really think it's just a matter of time until they throw him in there, just because of the politics of the game - and it looks like he can play."

Our View:Timmons played mostly on special teams last season and has displayed great speed and quickness in practices. He must show he knows the defense and has the football instincts that mesmerized Tomlin when he saw him at Florida State, in order to pass Foote on the depth chart.
