Craig Nall was signed this week with by the Houston Texans to be the backup to Sage Rosenfels, and he has performed well in practice, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View:Nall was with the team for a few weeks last year, so he at least has a cursory knowledge of the offense. Still, the team could be in trouble if he has to take significant snaps.

Craig Nall has signed with the Texans, according to the Houston Chronicle. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. N.D. Kalu was released to make room on the roster.

Our View:The 29-year-old Nall spent three weeks with the Texans last season, and was added to the club over Tim Rattay and Bruce Gradkowski. Nall holds no fantasy value, but will provide favorable depth at quarterback behind acting starter Sage Rosenfels and rookie Alex Brink while Matt Schaub is out with a knee injury.

The Texans signed veteran quarterback Craig Nall to back up Sage Rosenfels this week. Starter Matt Schaub is not expected to play because of a concussion suffered last week. “[The offense] is pretty familiar after being with [Texans assistant Mike Sherman] for four years in Green Bay,” Nall told the Houston Chronicle. “It doesn’t seem much different, especially in the passing game. Overall as a system, I hope I can pick it up very quick, and I’m confident I will.”
