Newsbreakers
October 27, 2008
Dallas Clark caught seven passes for 94 yards and two scores on Monday night as Peyton Manning's top target against the Titans.

Our View:This was the first time that Clark reached the end zone a year after he scored 11 times. Clark has hauled in 17 passes for 175 yards the past two weeks and is clearly worthy of starting each week regardless of opponent.

Tight end Dallas Clark returned to the game after getting shaken up during the Week 3 contest against the Jaguars.

Our View:We were premature in thinking Clark would miss the final few minutes after taking a hard shot on a route down the seam. Fantasy owners should be happy the oft-injured Clark didn't suffer another notable malady.

Tight end Dallas Clark was shaken up after a rough hit late in the fourth quarter of the Week 3 game against the Jaguars. After some time on the field, Clark was helped up and walked off under his own power.

Our View:Clark seems unlikely to return in the final few minutes, and we'll look for an update after the game and throughout the coming week.

Tight end Dallas Clark (knee) is active for the Week 3 game against the Jaguars.

Our View:Clark nearly played in Week 2, and fantasy owners should feel free to use him this Sunday.
September 17, 2008
The Indianapolis Star reports that Dallas Clark (knee) returned to practice on Wednesday and is expected to start on Sunday against the Jaguars.

Our View:Clark has just one catch for eight yards in very limited playing time this season. Expect him to bounce back and continue to be one of Peyton Manning's favorite red zone targets. He appears to be a safe play for Week 3.
September 16, 2008
Colts tight end Dallas Clark may return to practice this week, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Our View:Clark reportedly has a partially torn MCL, and his status for Week 3 is still up in the air, even if he does begin practicing.
September 14, 2008
The NFL Network's Adam Schefter has reported that tight end Dallas Clark is inactive this week vs. Minnesota.

Our View:This was expected as Clark has a partially torn MCL, and the medical staff chose not to risk further injury early in the season.
September 14, 2008
The NFL Network's Adam Schefter is reporting that Dallas Clark will likely miss this week's game against Minnesota due to a knee injury.

Our View:Schefter said Clark has a slightly torn medial collateral ligament in his knee, but should return next week against Jacksonville.
September 13, 2008
A decision on whether Dallas Clark plays this weekend might not come until tomorrow morning, according to the Indianapolis Star. Clark, who left last week's game with a right knee injury, saw limited work after being held out of practice the previous two days.

Our View:You should avoid playing Clark if at all possible.
September 12, 2008
Dallas Clark was limited in Friday's practice and is questionable to play Sunday against Minnesota, according to NFL.com. He is dealing with a knee injury, and missed the last two days of practice.

Our View:Rookie tight end Jacob Tamme has already been ruled out with an ankle injury. Clark will be a game-time decision, and slot receiver Anthony Gonzalez could play a larger role this week with the current state of the Colts' tight ends.
September 10, 2008
The knee injury that Dallas Clark suffered in the Colts loss to the Bears sure is giving the Pro Bowler trouble. Clark and the Colts are still uncertain of his status for Week 2. "I honestly can't say one way or the other. It's going to be further down the road in the week," Clark said. Head coach Tony Dungy said they are hopeful for a return, according to Colts.com.

Our View:Clark had a 11 touchdown receptions last year and turned out to be one of the highest scoring tight ends but this is an injury that might be a game time decision. You will probably want to have a backup plan at tight end in case Clark can't go.
September 9, 2008
Dallas Clark's knee injury appears to be minor, according to the Indianapolis Star. The team is still waiting for his MRI results but coach Tony Dungy said, "I'm hoping he'll be OK. He was running, trying to get himself back in the game Sunday night. But if it is going to be a couple of weeks, we'll adjust."

Our View:If he is forced to miss some time, then the team will be forced to rely on rookies Jacob Tamme and Tom Santi at the position. If they fail to keep up, then the Colts could feature more three receiver sets, which will benefit second-year pro Anthony Gonzalez.
September 7, 2008
Dallas Clark left the Sunday night game against the Bears in the second quarter with what appeared to be a right knee injury. The Colts tight end went to the locker room, and is considered questionable to return.

Our View:The injury didn't appear to be serious as Clark jogged off the field under his own power.
May 29, 2008
With the uncertainty surrounding wide receiver Marvin Harrison, the Indianapolis Colts are planning on expanding the already significant role of their tight ends in the passing game, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:Dallas Clark will continue to line up throughout the formation to exploit his size-speed gifts. And word out of Indianapolis is that the team has big plans for rookie Jacob Tamme, who has great hands but is a poor blocker. Tamme won’t provide much help to the running game, but the coaches are scheming ways to utilize his natural receiving abilities. With a dearth of legitimate receiver depth, look for Clark and Tamme to act as de facto wideouts in a good number of offensive sets.

The Colts placed the franchise tag on Dallas Clark yesterday. Today, they signed him to a six-year contract extension. Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but the deal is believed to have made Clark one of the league's highest-paid tight ends, according to the AP. Clark had a big 2007 season, setting career highs with 58 catches, 616 yards and 11 touchdowns. He'll be a bit long in the tooth by the time this new deal expires, but Clark should continue to be one of the most productive tight ends in the league over the next few years.
February 19, 2008
Dallas Clark , as expected, was handcuffed with the Colts' franchise tag on Tuesday. According to ESPN, after failing to reach a long-term agreement the team protected their starting tight end. Talks were ongoing with Clark this past week, but with no deal in sight, the Colts designated their 2007 second leading receiver. The one-year franchise tender for a tight end is $4.522 million and if any team chose to sign Clark, that organization would have to surrender two first-round draft choices.

February 14, 2008
Dallas Clark is expected to be a Colt in 2008 regardless of his upcoming free agent status. According to Colts.com and GM Bill Polian, the team will come to an agreement on an extension with their starting tight end, or he will receive the franchise tag. Clark, the team’s first-round selection in 2003, is scheduled to become a free agent on March 1. Expect Clark's agent and the Colts front office to come to some agreement on a new contract soon. Indianapolis has a history of bargaining in good faith with the players they covet.
