William Joseph has been brought back to the Raiders, according to the Oakland Tribune. He was previously cut by the team in training camp.

Our View:He will add some bulk to the Raiders' defensive line as a backup defensive tackle, but will not likely hold any fantasy value for IDP leagues.

The Oakland Raiders have cut defensive tackle William Joseph in order to make room on the roster for Ashley Lelie, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View:They essentially released one underachieving former first-round pick for another. Defensive tackles are commodities in the NFL, so Joseph should see work somewhere.

Free agent defensive tackle William Joseph has signed a contract to join the Oakland Raiders, according to CBSSportsline.com. Terms of the agreement have yet to be disclosed. Joseph missed all of last season for the New York Giants with a back injury. He was the 25th-overall pick out of Miami in the 2003 draft. He played in 55 games his first four seasons before the back injury, recording seven sacks and 52 solo tackles. The Raiders were looking for help on the defensive line after allowing a league-worst 4.8 yards per carry and finishing second-to-last by allowing 145.9 yards per game. Warren Sapp retired after the season, leaving a void in the middle of Oakland's defense. The Raiders resigned Tommy Kelly to a seven-year contract that guarantees him more than $18 million and now have added Joseph.

Free agent defensive tackle William Joseph visited with Miami last week, according to the Palm Beach Post. Williams, 28, played four seasons for the New York Giants after being drafted 25th overall out of the University of Miami in 2003, but he missed he missed the 2007 season because of a back injury.

The Giants placed William Joseph on injured reserve on Tuesday. He has a back injury, the team's official web site reports. His spot is now occupied by the recently-signed Russell Davis.
