Eugene Wilson is expected to sign a deal with the Texans after being released by the Buccaneers, according to the Houston Chronicle. Offensive lineman Brandon Frye has been placed on waivers to make room for Wilson on the roster.

Our View:Wilson won two Super Bowls with the Patriots and would provide versatility to play either safety or cornerback. The Texans only kept four cornerbacks on their 53-man roster.

The Buccaneers released defensive back Eugene Wilson on Sunday, the St. Petersburg Times confirms.

Our View:One of the other 31 teams is likely to claim this veteran cornerback, whose best days came with the Patriots from 2003-05.

Eugene Wilson continues to gain praise with his new team, according to the St. Petersburg Times. Team defensive backs coach Raheem Morris stated, "You can't say enough good things about him. He's looking like a stud right now." He is expected to make a solid transition from safety to cornerback this season, and is going to challenge the oft-injured Brian Kelly for his starting spot, as Morris commented, "We have an open corner spot. We want to see what goes down there. Guys have to jump up and compete. (Kelly) left and he was a big part of us, but we have guys who are ready to step up." His fantasy stock will continue to rise.

Eugene Wilson has been moved from safety to cornerback with the Buccaneers, as the team believes he is better suited there in their Tampa 2 Defense, according to the St. Petersburg Times. Coach Gruden praised Wilson by saying, "Wilson was a hell of a corner at Illinois, he led the nation in passes defensed. He got drafted by New England, and they made him a safety. If we'd have drafted him, he would've played corner. So we're going to move him back to corner."
