Ken Hamlin has agreed to a six-year, $39 million contract with the Cowboys, according to ESPN. He received $15 million in guaranteed money and a $9 million signing bonus.

Our View:He was worthy of the raise, but is not a solid performer in IDP leagues, as he only made 62 tackles (45 solo) in 2007.

The Cowboys and safety Ken Hamlin are getting close to an agreement on a long-term contract, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. Hamlin was given the franchise tag this offseason, and the two sides have until 4:00 pm EST on Tuesday to reach an agreement.

Our View:The Cowboys took a shot with Hamlin last year, and he turned into a Pro Bowl performer. He doesn't have much IDP value, but his signing would be excellent for the Cowboys defense.

Ken Hamlin's contract negotiations with the Cowboys continue to be on-going, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:Dallas wants Hamlin to remain with the club long-term, and they placed the franchise tag on him in hopes of working out a deal. A deal must be worked out by mid-July, or Hamlin will have to play under the terms of the one year franchise option.

Safety Ken Hamlin did not attend minicamp practice on Tuesday and has yet to sign his franchise tag. He is hoping for a long-term deal. "He is not behind mentally," head coach Wade Phillips informs the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Hamlin has been calling defensive coordinator Brian Stewart and his teammates for updates.

Our View:Given that he's calling and asking for updates, Hamlin doesn't sound like a guy who is likely to skip training camp or is eager to leave Dallas after this year. His IDP value is safe despite this missed time.
June 5, 2008
The Cowboys "want to and expect to" sign Ken Hamlin to a contract extension before training camp, according to the Star-Telegram.

Our View:There is no indication, however, if the team will complete a deal with Hamlin before the start of the veteran minicamp next week. He is working out on his own away from the team, and is looking for a long-term deal.
